It's been a long ride for Marvel and Edgar Wright. Starting in 2005, we almost thought the film was dead until last year's SDCC, Marvel announced a 2015 release date and it was all good from there. So now we are in 2013 and Edgar Wright has revealed why he decided to leave the film until 2015. Plus The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb talks his latest Spidey film. I guess these 'Nic Nacs' have been rather small... Get it, cause I've done two of these and Ant-Man is mentioned in both and Ant-Man goes small? Get it? No. Okay then, all that information is below, so enjoy!
When asked why
Ant-Man had been in development for so long, Edgar Wright (
Scott Pilgrim, The World's End) simply replied
'I wanted to do it with 2015 FX not 2005 FX. It'll be worth the wait'. So I guess the film's development was actually smooth sailing after all! Okay maybe not, but still this sounds promising, I think the ending caught my attention "It'll be worth the wait" Oh I'm getting goose bumps already!
Ant-Man is set to hit theatres everywhere November 6th, 2015.
Moderator turns to Marc. Webb says the first movie they built massive rigs 300 feet long to fly Spider-Man or a stunt double under an overpass in NY. They used the stuff they made in the computer as a reference. The human body can only take so much. The reality of the physics is mind-boggling and sort of impossible to ask an actor to do. Now he's talking about villains and choosing Electro. He always though Electro was the most fun challenge of the movie because there's something so magnificent to a creature that can merge and blend. He was always fascinated and terrified by something that could disappear. Peter Parker's so grounded. He has normal problems to deal with and then he has to fight gods. Webb found it interesting to combine those two worlds. He's talking about The Fog of War documentary and having to empathise with the enemy. In order to take on Electro, Parker has to empathise with him.
Marc Webb says one of the best stunts they did wasn't even an action scene. It was Andrew Garfield with a coffee cup. He references Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, talking about the timing and choreography. "You sense it in the room," Webb says. "When you can sit and watch and absorb characters doing extraordinary things."
