Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man movie is looking like a very loose adaptation of the character in every sense of the word, and whilst we may be seeing a very different take of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, it at least looks like we'll be getting a faithful adaptation of Scott Lang's character. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Peyton Reed confirmed that Lang's daughter, Cassie Lang, would be a part of the movie.
Whilst talking about the themes of the movie, Peyton commented that it has a "real personal dynamic", then elaborating on that comment by saying "in the comics Scott Lang has a daughter, and that's part of the movie too." So, unless Marvel are pulling another Hope Van Dyne, it seems that Cassie will definitely be a part of Ant-Man, which makes sense given her role in the To Steal An Ant-Man story - which the movie appears to be based on.
Reed was also asked about the challenge of putting a character whose superpower is commanding an army of ants, describing the ability as "mobilising an army". He again confirmed that it's a "passing of the torch movie", plus yet again also called it a "heist movie." Not too much new stuff, but at least it all seems in good hands! Ant-Man will hit theaters July 17th, 2015.
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross. Additionally, Michael Peña and David Dastmalchain will feature in current unannounced roles. Ant-Man will release July 17th, 2015.
