As for why an actress like Rashida deserves to do the role of the lead female character in Ant-Man, these are the many reasons why:

*She is the daughter of classic singers Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton
*She was in a relationship with Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire for 3 and 1/2 years which ended in 2000.
*She was a schoolmate of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.
*Despite several characters going through certain ethnic portrayals in adaptation from comics to films; if Rashida does get the role, we'll be lucky that Marvel Cinematic Universe's Wasp won't be too much of a big deal.
*Jones had a small role in the Kevin Smith film Cop Out. She appeared in The Social Network (2010), alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake, which was set at Harvard.
*She appeared in the Muppets film, along with Jason Segel, Amy Adams, and Chris Cooper. There she plays Veronica Martin, a network executive at the CDE network who helps the muppets get back their show.
*Her hair style matches one of Wasp's comic book looks.
*She is a comic book author
*With Paul Rudd having the upper hand at getting the role of Ant Man, Rashida Jones is a much wiser choice as Ant Man's love interest because it would really be weird to have someone 10 years younger doing the part

So if anyone wants to see Rashida Jones pull off the role of Janet Van Dyne for Edgar Wright's upcoming Ant-Man movie then please feel free to give her some support because we may not have anyone else more suitable for the character if Paul Rudd gets cast as Ant-Man.

Meanwhile stay tuned.

Not a bad choice. Still would rather have Winstead.

She'd probably be good, but I don't see how going to school with Paris Hilton means she deserves this role.

I want Lily Rabe because she's great in American Horror Story.
What has Rashida Jones done for you that makes you hold a torch for her so?

none of those reasons are worth a damn. Only two reasons matter.

The Office. And Parks and Recreation.

She is godamn AMAZING on those shows. I love her to death, and she would knock Wasp out of the park. no pun intended.

I find it funny how at times people fan cast because of the way a character was drawn by a particular artist at one point. lol

"these are the many reasons why:

I read only to this point. This plays into her acting ability in absolutely no way. If it's your FIRST reason, then I don't really expect much in the way of proof.

I've seen her in several roles, even non-comedic ones. Since drama is actually easier to pull off than comedy, I have no doubt she can actually pull off what ever the role needs. They're actors. They get paid to get in shape for a role, they rehearse, they have wires and stunt people. Whatevs.

ALso, just realized this is the same person who did the monster lead-in the other day. Well done about drilling this one down, but continue to work one that. A sentence, MAYBE two if you must. It's just a tease, not a preview essay.
