Aquaman is going to face a lot of stiff competition at the box office when it opens this December as it will have to contend with everything from Bumblebee to Mary Poppins Returns. As a result, no matter who good (or bad) the DC Comics adaptation ends up being, it may not earn enough to convince Warner Bros. that it's worth forging ahead with a shared universe for these comic book heroes.

For now, we're going to have to just wait and see what happens but one element the studio is pushing hard (even though it probably should have been saved as a surprise) is Aquaman's classic costume.

That's given the spotlight in the new promo art below which shows Arthur Curry wielding his trident and decked out in the classic gold and green suit he probably should have had from the start when he appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Regardless, it's going to be awesome seeing that in action and it's something Warner Bros. hopefully won't spoil in trailers!
