It's no secret that a lot of Aquaman related footage was cut from Justice League as Willem Dafoe's Vulko was completely cut and Mera received only a few seconds of screentime.
Now, Jason Momoa has shed some light on what was originally planned for Arthur Curry in the "Snyder Cut" and it sounds like the original plan was for the two movies to be really closely tied (Joss Whedon's reshoots and rewrites, however, made the ensemble feel like a standalone adventure).
"I think I’m coming straight from Justice League," the actor explains. "In Zack’s cut, we had it where I was with Vulko and Mera and I say that I have to go home and they say there’s this force coming that I need to help. I’m like, ‘I’m going home to see my dad,’ and so I get in the back of a pickup truck and pound a bottle of something and off he goes, the wanderer, you know what I mean?"
"And so that was kind of the end of Justice League where I was going and then you cut to me coming home and run into a submarine," he concludes.
That would have been a very cool exit for Arthur and may have created some mystery surrounding what comes next for him in Aquaman. On the other hand, though, it wasn't entirely necessary and with Warner Bros. execs pushing for a cut with a running time of less than two hours, it was probably an easy enough scene to lose.
