I was reading C
omicBook.com's article about Jessica Chastain chastizing Marvel for not producing a Black Widow feature film, and something stood out. The writer says in the article:
Captain Marvel has been cast at Marvel - I promise, she has, and they've almost certainly filmed something with her for Age of Ultron too (source)
Could this be true? If it is, it raises a ton of questions:
Won't this movie be overstuffed with characters? Yes. But Marvel could be giving us a small cameo for Col. Carol Danvers pre-Kree infusion.
Does this mean she won't get her own film? While personally it seems like a massive diservice to fans and women to not give Carol her own film it would fit with what they have done thus far. As it stands, Jessica Jones will be the first female lead introduced in her own movie/show. Agent Carter will finally spinning Peggy off to her own property almost 5 years after her first appearence.
Could Marvel intend to use the post credits scene to tease a Captain Marvel film? This seems like a solid bet. Rather than shoe horn Carol in with what would likely amount to the same amount of screentime Hawkeye got in Thor, they could tease Carol's origins in the stinger. Can you imagine how wild the fans would go if the title card 'Captain Marvel 2017' on the screen?
And the most pressing questions fans will be asking: Who have they cast? One of the most important roles in the MCU and one that has the widest selection of actresses speculated and fan cast. The only real criteria seems to be a hot white woman.
So what do y'all think? Could we be seeing Carol Danvers in The Avengers: Age of Ultron?
UPDATE: I asked the writer of the original article and he said:
That's not new news. It's not anything anybody at Marvel has confirmed or talked about, but it's an open secret. Just wish I knew who had the role.
So I supose there isn't a source and that this is the speculation of the original writer? Or does anyone agree that this is an 'open secret' as it were?
