Many Fans React Negatively to Captain America Without a Beard in AVENGERS 4

The great beard of Captain America s going away when Avengers 4 comes around, and many fans aren't happy with the decision Marvel have chosen to take.

Leaked promo arts of Avengers 4 have shown images of several characters, which also includes Captain America. What’s interesting about these photos is the fact that Steve Rogers is no longer sporting his awesome beard.

To be honest, seeing Captain America in a beard in Avengers: Infinity War was a breath of fresh air, and at one point, we were hoping the directors would allow this to be a thing for the foreseeable future. But that is not going to happen, and fans have responded accordingly.

Now, it should be noted that there’s just a single image of Steve Rogers without his beard, and that doesn’t give information on how long he decided to get rid of it during the movie. Who knows, he could have chosen to remove it at the end, or even at the very beginning.

Fans weren’t too impressed with the leaked promotional images, as many of them would have preferred if Captain America kept the beard. In all seriousness, he looks better with it, but maybe Marvel wants to keep the boy scout look instead of a rough one.

Let’s hope no one at Disney decided to remove the beard using CGI (wink, wink).

Sounds like criticisms from proposed "fans" who have never picked up a comic book. The MCU has a fanbase split in three sections: those who have a knowledge of history/lore from the Marvel comics universe and love the movies; those who are casual movie goers who generally like and enjoy the movies and have no understanding of Marvel lore/history; and those who claim they LOVE Marvel but who have, unfortunately, never picked up a comic book. Example of the latter is a girl who sat next to me during the premier of "Thor: Ragnarok" who freaked out at every moment, but when Adam Warlock shows up she says, "Who's that?" Basically, it's the same people who want Steve and Bucky to fall in love.

You know what would be funny is if he still has the beard and Marvel CGd it out I the film just so they could say it's not impossible to do lol

None of those tweets are even negative! And we say Josh Wilding is the only one that does clickbait stuff.

Did he shave or did it fall victim to the 'Snap'?

Is Captain America known for his beard?

Didn’t think so.

No beard is fine. It just looks really weird with all that hair on top of his head.

@DerekLake - Also, that concept art makes him a lot more square-jawed than Chris Evans actually is.

I really don’t understand why a beard would seriously matter at all to anyone. Seriously. If you are a fan of the comics, then I would say that Cap has been beardless far longer than with a beard. If you are just a fan of the movies, then I would also say the same.

It’s fine if you like one or the other, but I can’t understand the justification on spending the effort to sustain anger over the lack of a beard.

Cap doesn’t have a beard 99% of the time. Didn’t bother me that he had one in IW, but whatever.

Definitely won't make or break the movie for me but I have to admit I love the bearded Cap look. Seeing him stay bearded with the updated suit and with his proper shield would be awesome.

Liked the beard, but it's not a core aspect of the character. It's not like he suddenly became a Hydra-sleeper agent out of nowhere.
