Brian Michael Bendis Praises Joss Whedon's "Fantastic" Take On Ultron In THE AVENGERS: AOU

Reiterating what Joss Whedon has already said about The Avengers: Age of Ultron not being related to the comic book series of the same name, comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis praises the filmmaker's "fantastic" take on the villain. Check it out!

When the title of Joss Whedon's sequel to The Avengers was announced at Comic-Con, many fans panicked. Surely it wouldn't be based on the critically panned comic book series (which IGN described as, "a giant waste of time") of the name? Thankfully, the writer and director of the movie was quick to debunk these rumours and now the writer of that series has done the same. However, he also praises Whedon's take on the villain! "As has already been revealed...not much. my story was based on the concept that Ultron had been a threat to us for many many years while Joss’ story is the birth of Ultron as it relates to the Marvel cinematic universe. Joss’ has a fantastic take on the character. big surprise :-)" Age of Ultron was originally called Ultron War and some are speculating that Marvel's comics division may have changed the title after learning what the sequel would be called. That certainly makes more sense than Whedon basing it off the comic book and was a clever marketing strategy as the collected edition of the event shot up the sales chart on Amazon following the announcement. What do you guys think?

Who gives a shit what Bendis thinks? Do you think he's going to talk shit about Whedon or his take on Ultron?

This is no different than if Johns or Snyder praised Man of Steel.

Bendis is hit or miss. I don't put much worth into his opinion on this script.

"No one is stupid enough to risk their livelihood disagreeing with the Mouse."

Actually, sounds like the Disney execs are afraid of the Marvel Studios CEO.

But, you know...it's a lot easier to just assume Disney has an active hand in every single little thing.

I like Bendis, his work is great but his Age of Ultron was shitty, I think Whedon will do better but feels like a bit of a kick-to-the nuts robbing something so pivotal from Hank Pym...

Really don't mind that its Tony that makes Ultron, I have faith in Whedons skills, and before a lot of you fanboys get your panties in a bunch about Ant-Man not having anything to work with now just trust that Marvel has aplan seeing as how Ant-Man comes out just 6 months after AoU

Bendis' opinion doesn't sway me much one way or the other, but I have no reason to believe at this time that Age Of Ultron won't quite possibly be the greatest CBM of all time.

Am I a little sad that pym doesnt create ultron? Sure but I trust wedon enough to make a quality film out of ut. Its basically a different universe than the comic anyways so who care what happens as long as its entertaining which it will be.

"I think both of our opinions are equal amounts assumption. But considering Disney owns Marvel I doubt you are correct."

Considering mine isn't an assumption, your doubts are unfounded. But, you know...again, whatever blows your hair back.

Except that Johns also praised Green Lantern which makes his opinion worthless.

Check this out:
http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/robert-downey-jr-avengers-marvel-negotiations-fight/

Disney Chaiman/CEO Bob Iger has a majorly hands-off attitude about Marvel Studios. Marvel greenlights their own movies, and only coordinates with Disney Chairman Alan Horn. Both stayed completely away from Marvel CEO Perlmutter during the entire negotiation with Downey and the rest of the cast.

Marvel Studios is its own company. Disney just makes money off them.

I'm sure Bendis loves the idea and I'm sure the idea works and is fun. Of course they can make this thing work without the original story, characters, psychological relationships, pathos, etc...
That's not the point! You can make Superman being raised in Russia work, but it doesn't mean they should go that way in a movie!
And I'll bet there are surprises and I'll bet I can call them, right here: They'll make Ultron an extraterrestrial AI. They'll be cybernetic robots with a hive mind. Why? Because it ties into Thanos and it fvcks up a future Brainiac based movie. The wholew point of this sequel seems to be to fvck up as many other cbms as possible. Even within the MCU.
I guess Whedon's been reading a bit of Sun Tzu, eh? "It is not enough that I should succeed, but that all my enemies fail, also" or something, right?
Well, I think Bendis' true critique is more like that comics panel you put up there:
"Not much of a plan, but, okay!"
And, y'know what, I'll bet it'll still be fun and will thrill me as a geek. Especially if they tie in Ultron to Death's Head 3 and have a bunch of female Ultron's modeled after the George Perez Jocasta design.
And I'll be there on opening night and I'll buy it on DVD. But I have lost a whole hell of a lot of respect for this franchise, now. With the exception of GOTG, the MCU can go fvck it's own face.

Towards the bottom, before the interview with Whedon.

"The sad truth is that both Iger and Horn are scared stiff of Perlmutter and want to steer clear of the inevitable nightmare negotiations."

can't f*ckin wait, age of ultron will be amazing.

@ jollem

(YAWN!)same shit different day with you, always crying over iron man 3,funny when iron man 3 came out you said it was crap & everything that came out after was better.

its funny how out of all the comic book movies released this year its iron man 3 which is critically & financially the best of the bunch(even if i don't agree with it.)

its even better received than the likes pacific rim & the lone ranger,so whatever marvel studios did wrong i.e too much comedy or the mandarin twist, the critics & general public seem to love it.
