David Hasselhoff Gripes More About Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury Portrayal In THE AVENGERS

Revealing that he'd like to don the eye patch again, David Hasselhoff explains his distaste for Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and reiterates that Stan Lee had dubbed him "the Ultimate Nick Fury." Check it out!

During an interview that's all too similar to Lou Ferrigno saying that his Hulk is the best Hulk there is, actor David Hasselhoff spoke with Yahoo Movies and reminisced about playing Nick Fury in the 1998 TV movie Nick Fury: Agent of Shield versus Samuel L. Jackson's 'ultimate' portrayal of the character in The Avengers movies. "I was the first Nick Fury," he said. "Stan Lee put me in that. He gave me the best line ever: 'Guys like you tend to cling to the bowl no matter how many times you flush'. Stan Lee came on the set and told me all about Nick," he added. "He said 'You're the ultimate Nick Fury'. He gave me the greatest compliment ever." But what does he think about Samuel L. Jackson's performance? "You know, it wasn't Nick Fury. They take these shows and they make it the way they want to make it and unfortunately, they should have had Stan Lee on the set and let him kick him into gear - whoever directed [The Avengers] decided they wanted to go that way. But it's their prerogative. He's still a great actor." On what it was like playing the eye-patch-donning character, Hasselhoff explains, "It was a challenge. But it was also more fun than anything. I did a lot of research - I read as much about Nick Fury as I could. Nick Fury is a real tough guy and he didn't have any special powers… A big word in my life is 'respect' and you know, might for right," David Hasselhoff continues. "He was a big throwback to the old World War II days, you know. I was hoping to have played him in the movie," he revealed. "And then Samuel L. Jackson came in and he was a great Nick Fury but he wasn't really the consummate Nick Fury, the way he was written. And I think that's a shame because he's a great character and a funny character… I'm hoping to do it again sometime."

Kurt Russell would've been great. And yeah, I guess I'm just merely saying that because of Snake's eye patch.

Wait...

David Hasselhoff is still alive?

He hasn't killed himself yet after his "career" on Baywatch and a cameo in Spongebob?

David was actually umm okay in that nick fury TV movie back in the days. I remember liking the movie back then(maybe because at that time a live action marvel was soo rare) but I enjoyed the show when I was young. I'm pretty sure if I watch it now I might get a good laugh out of it

Wow, he didn't hold any punches about Sam. He's obviously pissed, for a guy with zero talent, he should be happy that he's gone anywhere in Hollywood. I actually don't like the current Nick Fury that much, I think Sam plays him awkwardly despite being a massive fan of him. "I have my eye on you." Shit like that shouldn't be said, think it was in Iron Man 2.

Asselhoff is a complete joke. He's like Shatner, the only thing he's good for is a parody.

So, in the light of current Marvel comic universe, can I assume that Samuel L Jackson is suppose to be David Hasselhoff's illegitimate son?

Dont blame SLJ's performance of Nick Fury when Marvel didnt bother to give him any backstory or substance to work with.

If they ever do a movie in the MCU where the story goes to different dimensions, they can have him be Nick Fury in that. 'Nuff Said!

I remember when this and the 'Generation X' movies aired. Back then, us comic book fans took what we could get! DC was doing their Batman thing and a year earlier had 'thrilled' audiences with 'Batman and Robin'...yeah. So for what they were, they weren't terrible. The only thing Marvel fans had to compare these shows to was meager attempts at Captain America, Punisher, and Fantastic Four movies. The internet was young still and fan-made movies were almost non-existent...although to today's fan-made movies and trailers, these movies would be terrible.
