Definitely No Ant-Man Appearance In The Avengers

Anyone still hoping that Ant-Man would be part of Joss Whedon's Avengers can stop doing so, as Kevin Feige has revealed to LA Times' Geoff Boucher that that's not going to happen..

Joss Whedon had already stated that Ant-Man won't be appearing in The Avengers. But, like so many things, the fans weren't satisfied with this and thought there may have been some changes since then(it WAS back at SDCC 10 in fairness) or that no Ant-Man didn't mean no Hank Pym(Hank Pym IS Ant-Man folks) Well, those original team sticklers will now have a bit more to cry about as the following tweet from Geoff Boucher would seem to put hopes of an appearance by the diminutive Super-hero to rest for good..

I thought maybe Ant-Man might be a stealth addition to "Avengers" but last nite at "Thor" Kevin Feige said thats not the plan.

Mmmm. That wouldn't rule out a cameo would it?;) Seriously though, I guess we will have to wait for Edgar Wrights upcoming adap to see Ant-Man on screen. There is alway steh possibility of him joining the team for Avengers 2 after that. Now, what about Wasp dammit!

I really want the Hank Pym Ant-Man to be a part of this Marvel Cinematic Universe but not as an old man who sits around in a lab. If they have to put off introducing him because Edgar Wright wants Scott Lang to be the present day Ant-Man then they should keep working on it. I know there is that Hank Pym mention in Thor, but I am really hoping that Selvig is someone he met at a convention or one of Hank's old teachers.

I would really like to see Marvel go with the younger Hank Pym from the Ultimate universe that Nick Fury is kind of a surrogate father to.

@Ror yeah when editing the final cut of thor, there is a scene where Selvig, says 'let me email one of my old collegues'. Kevin Fiege only just recently stated that he was going to put the name Hank Pym in that referance. So i'm thinking maybe no giant man or wasp (yet) but he is still open for references or cameos.

This is crap, they could at least have Hank Pym and have him become Ant-Man in the sequel.

Intruder, you're right, I always mix that up..he said no Ant-Man at SDCC, and the fanboys immediately hoped that he didn't mean no Hank Pym. ..who is Ant-Man. I find it amazing how people still think that these directors and producers try to pull the wool over our eyes with cryptic hints and misdirection. He said Ant-man is not part of the team, if you really think that Hank Pym will be , just not in costume, I'll gladly wire you over 100 quid if you're right, how bout that?

I still don't see anything stating that the Pyms won't have cameos in the movie. Ant-man, the super-hero, may not be in it, but I will bet that Hank Pym, the scientist, and Janet Van Dyne will be. It's called misdirection folks.

@ELgUaSoN - You're right, but Cap does have Founding Member status.

@N - You're right. He's been working on that since before Whedon was brought on board The Avengers, and they've already started shooting.

If there's really gonna be an Antman/Wasp movie they can't keep him from Avengers 2. So why not Hank Pym in Avengers (-movie)?

I wouldnt mind Hank Pym being the oldest member of the Avengers (not counting Cap), and having started his AntMan career when he was in his early 20s, and now being in his 40s. But Hank does need to be in this in some way/shape/form, even as a cameo as a SHIELD scientist or something

the only reason why theirs no Ant-Man is only because he did not get his own solo movie first.

Selvig talks about emailing Hank Pym, in Thor. First he talks about Bruce Banner and after about him who had problem with SHIELD too.

Ant-Man is definitively not in Avengers, but Hank Pym could be a cameo like Hawkeye in Thor.

I can see something like Selvig going into a SHIELD place and a scientist (Pym) recognize and call him, but Selvig doesn't pay attention to him, and Pym insist.

No worries, everyone. We all have vivid imaginations as comic book fans. Just imagine Ant-Man hanging out in every scene, except he is too small to see or hear. His dilemma in the movie will be trying to get his suit to turn him back to full size. Then BAM! Avengers 2 comes out and guess who will have fixed there suit and be permanently added to the Avengers...ANT-MAN!!! Great performance, Ant-Man, we couldn't have enjoyed the movie without you.

Hank Pym has to be in this movie! In some way, shape or form. he was an original, before Captain America, i can see how too many cooks spoil the broth, but theyve introduced Hawkeye... HAWKEYE! Hawkeye is good but surely Ant Man should be in the film somewhere. Cameo that leads to a bigger role in the sequel or something. PLEASE MARVEL!

the movie has enough characters as is. Between the main 7 characters as is, we don't need time spent on anyone else.

Sucks, but at the end of the day do we really want to see a cluster [frick] of characters just like xmen? And we know how that turned out... (and now FC). I'm just being realistic here. There's enough characters in the movie and besides the sequel is always a possibility.

it's not edgar wright's fault i believe the first draft set the ant-man film in the 60's and was written before marvel had the avenger film set in motion. i really want to see ant-man on the big screen not only because edgar wright is a brilliant film maker but after watching the avenger cartoon ant-man stands out for me probably cause he's such an unusual character to what we've seen. i'd like for it to come out in 2013 along with iron man 3 and then hopefully he'll be in the next avenger film.

I would have assumed that with Selvig alluding toward Pym's involvement with SHIELD throughout all of Marvel releases so far they could have had Pym alone in some capacity. But that's because I'm a fan of the character

I don't know why people keep hanging on to this one. They have every real intention of doing a film featuring Ant-man. They're not going to cast someone just to do a bit part in Avengers and then saddle the director of the Ant-man flick with those actors.

Picking the leads of that film will be a major deal, as it was with Thor and Cap, and the director of the Ant-man flick should be the one to lead it.

That said, there's a good chance of a name drop... Apparently there was one in "Thor" that ended up on the cutting room floor.
