Well-known for his role in
Antwone Fisher, actor Derek Luke's appearance in Marvel & Joe Johnston's
Captain America: The First Avenger film as 'Gabriel Jones' was revealed when the actor's name was spotted on an official poster. While hes lacked
Captain America promotion, a possible reason for that has been offhandedly mentioned via
Variety, which essentially highlighted the actor's upcoming
Seeking a Friend film.
Luke will soon be seen as Gabe Jones in "Captain America," a role he'll reprise in "Marvel's The Avengers."
So could Derek Luke's lack of
Captain America promotion be that he'll rather have a cameo in the film, presumably in the present-day bookends, and will play 'Gabriel Jones' fully-on in Joss Whedon's crossover spectacle
The Avengers? Could the opening of
The Avengers film actually be
Captain America's WW2 setting? Could he actually be playing 'Gabe Jones Jr?' With endless possibilities, What do you think?
Via Wiki - Gabe Jones appeared as a regular cast-member in virtually every issue and annual of Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos. In present-day stories, initially in the feature "Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." in Strange Tales, he appears as an agent of that fictional espionage organization — inexplicably aged very little, like fellow WWII vet and agent Dum Dum Dugan, despite a retcon explanation for agency head Nick Fury's youthfulness. As a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Jones has appeared in issues of The Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, the first two volumes of Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the 1988 miniseries Nick Fury vs. S.H.I.E.L.D.
Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston & Stellan Skarsgård, the film releases May 4, 2012!
