Joss Whedon Can't Wait To "Knock" Quicksilver And Scarlet Witch Against THE AVENGERS

Joss Whedon recently appeared on the Tavis Smiley show and spoke about Quicksilver & the Scarlet Witch, reinterpreting Marvel heroes for a new generation and more.

In addition to discussing Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (sounds like maybe they'll be fighting The Avengers at least initially), Joss describes the feeling of directing characters he grew up reading and the responsibility he shoulders to reinterpret these characters for children just coming of age and discovering these superheroes for the first time.

"We are introducing Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch who are mainstays of The Avengers universe, they're foes, they've been allies and they're very interesting to me because I grew up reading The Avengers. They have powers that are visually exciting, different from the characters we've seen before so I'm excited to knock them against The Avengers and see what shakes loose."

It will be nice to see them on big screen, but weird changing their origin and background. I would prefer Ms Marvel and Vison, or Black Phanter.

Can't wait for this movie, but the inclusion of Wanda and Pietro is a little awkward for me. But hopefully their inclusion will be fleshed out well by Whedon. In Whedon, we trust!

I know not everyone is on board with the choice of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, but I love the choice for the reasons he stated. There are many other Avengers that others want to see, and I understand that, but so many of the others often mentioned (Luke Cage, Black Panther, Ms Marvel, Vision) are not dramatically different power wise. Of that list I think Vision would be the one with the most difference. However, I think think Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's powers will really pop on screen and be dramatically different from the Avengers we now have.

How are they "wrong choice of characters"? SW and QS both joined the Avengers after Captain America did. What Whedon is doing with them makes sense, unlike what Singer is doing.

I'm not really fond of the idea of quicksilver and his sis appearing in Avengers 2. Would have liked black panther to appear.

So instead of introducing Black Panther your introduce the redneck incest brother and sister duo.

Falcon, Black Panther, War Machine, She-Hulk, Ms Marvel, Ant-Man, Wasp, Daredevil (he was an Avenger briefly), Dr Strange, and the list goes on. All better choices.

I want to see these two in The Avengers 2... but I ALSO want to see Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past. In fact, I probably want to see Quicksilver in DoFP MORE.

I hope Marvel and 20th Century Fox can just both use the character. Honestly, that would be awesome.

I dont think Whedon has anything to worry about with Singers version of Quicksilver.

Having heard that the Avengers was coming to the big screen he decides to include a winged insect like female known as Angel Salvatore and nobody to this day understood why.

But with his sudden inclusion of Quicksilver for a 5 second spot in DOFP it's now becomes clearer why Angel was included...and now dumped.

Why does everyone keep discussing changing their backgrounds? They can be mutants just the cant use the word mutant or Magneto. That's their only restriction. Knowing Whedon as a big comics fan he won't want to [frick] with their backgrounds or origins just say they're people born with powers.

i bet quicksilver and scarlett took the place of some other characters(ms. marvel,vision etc.) joss wanted in the movie. but for reasons unknown had to find replacements and picked them. they just seem out of place and hes trying to fix that but marketing them himself. With all that being said i still trust this man. im sure they'll be excellent additions hopefully appearing in future movies as well.

And that's how you include they are mutants and Magnetos kids without telling you it.

I know no good director will use the Ultimate versions. I mainly said that as a joke. I still don't like these choices. Their are way better characters to do. Falcon and War Machine definitely deserves a spot.

I'd rather he tell the story HE wants to tell than a story he doesn't want to tell. We've sen what happens in those cases. For examle, Raimi had no desire to use Venom and it showed.

First off Levitik-ass? Is that really the best you could come up with? Lame attempt, try again.

Second off just because they became Avengers fairly within the first year of the comics, doesn't make them important. I would say Scarlett Witch could be important but not Quicksilver. They don't have a solo series that is all that long, they aren't all that interesting.

Adding Black Panther would be best but then again Disney owns Marvel.
