S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier From THE AVENGERS To Appear In IRON MAN 3?

Based completely on a tweet, that seems quite plausible, it seems the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier that'll first appear in The Avengers may have a place in Iron Man 3! Check it out!

With production currently underway, a main setting in Marvel's highly-anticipated film The Avengers, where the heroes interact, is reportedly the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier, which is also said to be the studios' largest set piece yet. And with that, a Twitter user's recent mention of the ship appearing in Marvel Studios' Avengers follow-up, the Shane Black-directed Iron Man 3, seems likely.

Although how expensive the set piece is makes it likely, this news is surprising, considering the third Iron Man installment was said to be more standalone than Last year's Iron Man 2. And it's also said the Stark Tower would appear in The Avengers. While this news could still be taken with a bowl of salt, what do you think? Anyhow, Iron Man 3 is slated for theaters May, 3, 2013!

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki Laufeyson), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

that would be cool & i can see this being true.personally i found iron man 2 good but no where near as good as iron man,so hopefully the 3rd movie curse is now gone & we can look forward to an iron man film as good as the first.

Avengers ship? couldnt that possibly be the Quinjet instead of the SHIELD Helicarrier? Just my assumption

So they're putting it in Iron Man 3 just because its expensive? Do they even have a script yet? They shouldn't just put it in to put it in like they did with Nick Fury and Black Widow in Iron Man 2. If its that expensive keep it for the Avengers 2.

Why not? Could be used to deploy IM & WM down into a Ten Rings base. Either way, IM3 will be a great third film.

If anything, I just hope they put the Mandarin in this. He deserves to be in the Iron Man movies since he is IM's Arch-Enemy after all.

@0SageMode0 yeah it would be a huge let down if mandarin isn't in iron man 3 as they have been building up to it in the first two movies, with the ten rings people and that mongolian man who gives whiplash the tickets in the second one. However I dont think we are gonna see mandarin anytime soon

That tweet makes no sense. How expensive it is has nothing to do with it being in another movie.

You don't have to say "take this with a grain/bowl of salt" at the end of every single article. We know you guys post every bit of random speculation you can find from every source on the internet.

Im hoping IM3 will break the third movie curse. IM2 was basically the bad movie of the trilogy (although not that bad) maybe IM3 will end up being the sequel that is better than the first film!
Mandarin is a must in this, hopefully they do something with the ten rings from the first film, maybe have Mandarin be one of ten leaders who betrays the others to take over the organisation alone?

i hope so lol MARVEL is all about saving money where they can..re-using a set piece is brilliant lol

Even though he could just as easily be talking about the Quinjet, what this person is saying makes sense.

At my place of employment, anything we purchase for a job has to be costed to that job. This is for tax purposes as well as it let's us see if that job made a profit. If this set/model is as expensive as they make it sound then Marvel may be trying to help the bottom line for The Avengers by splitting the cost with Iron Man 3. This would mean the profit margin for The Avengers will be greater than if it absorbed the entire cost of the set/model.

Of course, they could be of the mindset that they are going to get the biggest bang for their buck and this would be one less set to build for IM3 :)

Is there any confirmation that the ship in the Avengers poster is the SHIELD Helicarrier? As far as i know, it could something entirely different.

Iron Man 3 with:

1. Mandarin

2. No other people/drones with Iron Man suits and tech.

3. Less goofy ass Stark.

4. Good explanation as to why Avengers aren't helping.

Or... GTFO

Good! I hope we get cameos even if it's just the voice of other characters speaking to Tony via his helmet's cel phone as seen in the first Iron Man.

@kidzombie "realistically"?

@neobaggins agree with you there. but with the added criteria that the main bad guy not be taken down like a bitch like whiplash was. hell even ironmonger was taken down cheaply.

It is just good business sense is all.
TV shows do it all the time. Why bust something up or demolish something important as a set piece if ya MIGHT need it in the future.
If it appears (even if for 5-10 minutes) in IM3?
Cool.
If it doesn't?
No worries.
It will most likely be used at some point or another ;-)~

@mikehawk (lol) YES.
Of course the helicarrier will be in Im3. It'll probably be popping up in a bunch of Marvel movies. I'm sure it'll be in the next Cap movie as well.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 8/2/2011, 5:55 PM
SigmaCenturion I agree, the villain shouldn't be a push-over and when/if Iron Man wins, he really wins. Not, getting his ass kicked the whole fight than the villain slips on a banana peel and explodes. But this would also have to go into the aspect of Stark being a little serious and kickass. I know he's a playboy and jokster, but Iron Man 2 elevated him to irrespnsible goof ball when by now, he should have more control. At least if he's going to screw up, use the Alcoholic story line to make things interesting.

@NeoBaggins yeah they really didn't seem to bring that up much in the movies so far. You think he would of had a better security system for his place too really rhodes stole his suit way too easily and it comes fully functional with a power supply? that was weird
