The Avengers Filming Has NOT Been Stopped; Brief Details On Contents Of Script!

Despite recent rumors that production on The Avengers had been brought to a halt due to the theft of Samuel L. Jackson's script, it's being reported that they were in fact false. PLUS: Details on the contents of the script...

The guys over at BadAssDigest have done a little digging and in the process have seemingly put an end to the recent rumors that the theft of Samuel L. Jackson's script had brought the production of the highly anticipated movie to a halt. Interestingly, they also seem to have some inside knowledge about the contents of that same script and briefly detail what they made of it.

Reports are spreading online that production on The Avengers has been halted after a copy of the script leaked online. I’ve talked to a couple of sources and neither of them can confirm this and believe that the production is trundling along just fine.I’m still waiting for official word from Disney.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Disney and this was the first the publicist had heard about it.

Also, the leaked script gives almost nothing away. The Avengers is a movie that most of you could probably plot out beat for beat; Marvel isn’t throwing a bunch of surprises at us in this one (at least not until the end, but there’s a surprise at the end that I don’t think can be rewritten due to Marvel’s long-term planning).

Pretty interesting stuff, eh? Perhaps it will be as simple as just the superhero team taking on Loki and the Hulk! It's also interesting to ponder what exactly the surprise at the end of the movie might be. Be sure to speculate and share your thoughts in the usual place!

With an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Rufallo as Bruce Banner, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!

I think it's fair to say that with Joss Whedon helming this picture, the printed script will end up being more of an outline.

Whedon's strength is giving his actors the leeway to take roles and properly inhabit them so there will undoubtedly be little of the original dialogue left as great actors start to play with the tools they are given.

One of the strengths of Iron Man is the improvisation that was promoted on set so the dialogue was more believable and less forced, so I feel confident that whatever was printed in that script will be largely ignored as the creatives involved (yes, Downey, I'm looking at you) rebuild it from within.

It's going to be THE film to see next year, without a doubt, and the seven-year-old within us all will be allowed into a PG-13 movie.

you could plot the movie out? we still don't know who the villains are! All we know is loki will be there, and were assuming there will be skrulls.

Somebody tell me if that's a good thing or not....

What could it be? Galactus? Dr. Doom? I've been praying for a long time that Marvel gains control of one their long-lost properties, preferably the Fantastic Four. This ending sounds like it's gonna be BIG for fans!

I already said this, if they needed to rewrite that one scene they would just film a different scene instead of halt filming. Movies rarely film scenes in order anyway

@indoraptor

It's not really good or bad, it's pretty much saying that the story you're expecting -- which is Loki vs. The Avengers for most people -- is the story you'll be getting.

And I hope the surprise isn't Galactus or Doom. I don't want anybody to see me cry in the theater lol.

I'm stoked for the Avengers, but I must admit that I'm more excited about the possibilities that setting a precident like this will allow. I hope that someday soon we will see the Infinity Gauntlet on the big screen. I would die a happy man if they were to adapt Annihilation. Watching Galactus lose his shit after being freed would be so incredibly epic XD

In order to set the stage to eventually see something like a Secret Wars or Infinity Gauntlet movie(s) don't you think Marvel needs to acquire the rights to pivotal characters like Spiderman, FF, Wolverine, and Silver Surfer first?

@TheIntruder - The Infinity Gauntlet would be [frick]ing epic! Also a good way to fix the X-Men continuity ;) Too bad it'll probably never happen, at least not with Fox and Sony's help.

Hopefully that surprise at the end is Hank Pym suddenly out of the blue getting awesomely Giant-Sized and laying an enormous smack down on a baddie. THAT would make for an awesome moment.

Can you imagine a villain gaining the upper hand and just when it looks like he's going to kill an Avenger, you see him standing there in a full shot and suddenly a red-gloved fist the size of a house comes down on top of him???!!!

Epic!
