A long time ago after the failure that was Batman & Robin, WB's was wondering what to do with Batman. Several ideas came up. A Batman vs Superman movie, a Batman Beyond movie penned by Paul Dini but the 2 that WB's decided on choosing between was Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins & Darren Aronofsky's Batman: Year One. Now we all know who WB's picked, I recently found some concept art for Darren Aronofsky's Batman: Year One.

Now before most of you wonder why WB's didn't pick it, it was mainly due to the fact that it completely changed everything about Batman and really wasn't anything like Year One. The script was penned by Darren Aronofsky and Frank Miller (think I know what the problem maybe is). In the script, Bruce Wayne wasn't a billionaire playboy but was homeless, living on the streets of Gotham. Alfred is an African-American mechanic who isn't even called Alfred but instead called Big Al. Also Batman drives a souped up Lincoln Towncar. Also Bruce Wayne gets the idea of Batman because when he beats up wrong-doers down on the streets of Gotham he punches them with a mighty ring on his finger bearing the initials of his father: Thomas Wayne… T-W… which ends up looking like a bat symbol on the foreheads of said criminals… hence The Batman. Aronofsky has said he still wishes to adapt this story into a comic AND/OR eventually make it into a movie.

As much as I would love Aronofsky to direct a Batman film, I think someone needs to hand him Batman: Earth One or Court of Owls or something because his ideas aren't great but pretty bad. Not hating on Aronofsky but I'm glad they picked Nolan's Batman Begins script over this. Nevertheless the concept art for the film actually looks amazing. Here is some concept art of Batman, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, and the Batmoblie.

While I'm not a fan of the script for this film, this concept art looks great. Love some of the designs for the Batsuit. Also the Catwoman, Jim Gordon, and some of the Batmoblie designs look great too. Maybe WB's some reconsider him for a rebooted Batman film. Just with a different screenplay one where Bruce is rich and Alfred is a butler. What are your thoughts? Comment below. Peace.

I'm not a fan of any of these. They seem to be too lookalike to the 90's movies.

Next costume definitely needs to take inspiration from Nite Owl.

If Frank Miller was involved with this, he probably had Batman asking people if they were "retarded" and claiming that his war on crime is a "holy war."

If I were to make a Batman movie I'd set it six months after he started crime fighting. I'd have Oswald Cobblepot as a respected and wealthy businessman who is running a crime syndicate below the front of his Iceberg Lounge. Then I would do something with the court of owls, have it reflect back and connect to Oswald and a conspiracy with the Waynes and all the original rich families of Gotham. Then have Hush in it too probably. Have him be a friend of Bruce's as a boy like in the comics but instead of classic Hush make him the Talon

Nice find Levi. Bit confused about pantyhose-Batman in pic 2... Bit of a Red Son vibe in pics 3 and 6 too, although I don't remember whether Batman's costumes actually looked like that in that comic or if I'm just making the link because they're a bit Russian-looking. Pretty cool though, and it's a nice insight into what could've been a very different (probably too different) take on Batman.

what is the talk of stay close to the source material? Nolan raped the source material and so many claim greatness with the movies. Aronofsky's ideas are crazy though.

Just make an Arkham Asylum movie...Besides a Beyond movie, I don't really see any other way of straying away from Both the 90s and Nolan Batman films.

As for these concepts, the cars are too similar to the 90s style of the Batmobile, whilst some ideas for the outfits are cool in some ways. Maybe we'll finally see a Batman with Grey on him in a reboot

I love the concept art.

But how does homeless Batman have a Batmobile? Shouldn't it be a bat-shopping-cart filled with cans? Why change the character that drastically then stick so closely to details? The art looks like rich BW Batman.

I'd like to see a Batman murder mystery movie . . . Vaguely based upon the Long Halloween and/or Bruce Wayne Murderer. Let's see the detective first for a change then the Martial Artists/ gadget guy second.

As an alternate world comic that would work but as a movie to revitalize the franchise that would suck.
