SUPERMAN/BATMAN Fan Cast

CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR MAN OF STEEL: With the news of Ben Affleck's casting as Batman still fresh, I decided to toss up my fan cast for the SUPERMAN/BATMAN film before anyone else was announced.

Director - Zack Snyder
I know people love to hate on him, but I dig his movies. Everything from Dawn of the Dead to Man of Steel and I'm really excited for this next one.

Superman - Henry Cavill & Batman - Ben Affleck
After the destruction of Metropolis, Batman travels to investigate the alien called Superman. At the same time, Bruce Wayne is in town to meet with Lex Luthor about how Wayne Enterprises can lend a hand to the broken city. Wayne learns of Luthor's loathing for Superman, his powers and how far Luthor is willing to go to take down "the man of steel".

Outside of these meetings, he is greeted by reporters, Lois Lane and Clark Kent. To bilk information from Lane, he invites her to dinner which irks Clark to a degree. During their dinner, Lois begins supplying Bruce with unfavorable information about Luthor, refusing to give up Superman's identity. Bruce does try to pick up Lois, realizing there is an attraction there, but she kindly declines his offer for a nightcap.

Thanks to Lane's information, Wayne uncovers some disgusting overseas business habits of Luthor's that were recently undone by Superman and Lex's ulterior motives for helping the city. Realizing who the real villain is, Wayne Enterprises pulls out of business with LexCorp.

Frustrated, Lex Luthor busts out his War Suit, designed by Winslow Schott (aka The Toyman), LexCorp's top engineer to hypothetically take down Superman.

That's pretty much what I have in a nutshell. I think it's pretty basic and obviously the story could use some work, but I'm tired and not getting paid for this so what are you gonna do?

Lois Lane - Amy Adams
I knew she would be a great Lois Lane, I just hoped there was more of her and that she was a little more take charge, like she was in The Fighter, but not as aggressive. Also, I appreciated that she wasn't stupid and figured out Superman's identity early on. That's always bugged me.

Alfred Pennyworth - Bill Nighy
In this film, I'd like to see Alfred travel to Metropolis with Bruce and have an Oracle sort of set-up in the hotel for when Bruce goes out as Batman.

Bill Nighy could be like no other Alfred we've seen before. He's an energetic older actor from films such as the Underworld movies, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, The Boat The Rocked, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Wrath of the Titans, Total Recall, Jack the Giant Slayer and most recently, the narrator in The World's End.

Lex Luthor - Billy Zane
I've wanted to see Billy Zane play Lex Luthor since Bryan Singer was first announced to direct Superman back in 2005. He plays that smug asshole part so well. That said, the part will likely go to Bryan Cranston or Mark Strong, which isn't bad, but... Billy Zane.

Mercy Graves - Ronda Rousey
MMA fighter, Ronda Rousey is the perfect fit for Mercy Graves and an excellent character to introduce the Amazons, expanding the DC universe even further.

Toyman / Winslow Schott - Luis Guzmán
Winslow Schott is a weapons designer for LexCorp, who building high-tech weaponry and some other things for his own amusement. Schott eventually becomes "Toyman".

Bruno Mannheim - Dominic West
Bruno Mannheim is a gangster by trade, but in the film, I would like to see him in a LexCorp supervisory position.

Angela Chen - Jamie Cheung
Lois Lane's younger professional rival, both reporters trying to get the scoop on the mysterious secret dealings in Metropolis.

After Bruce and Clark become friends, as a sign of solidarity, Bruce Wayne brings Angela as his date, deterring any feelings Lois may have had toward him.

Bibbo Bibbowski - Irwin Keyes
Even if it's only a cameo, I gotta see Bibbo.

Dear christ if I see one more Billy Zane as Luthor fan cast i'm going to shit my pants...after nearly 10 years it doesn't stop.

The guy is a shit actor who piqued in the early nineties, give it a damn rest.
If you really have so little imagination that you need an actor who looks like a damn cartoon to portray him, regardless of his mediocrity, in lieu of a far better actor with a more nuanced personality and more versatility, then you people need to see a psychiatrist.

Stop [frick]ing basing choices for Luthor around actors who are either bald or wear shaved heads...That includes Mark Strong's one-dimensional ass, name people who can bring an edge to the role, a la

-Joaquin Phoenix
-Javier Bardem
-Jason Isaacs
-Jon Hamm
-Michael C. Hall

Billy Zane not only has the look (not to mention the cold stare), but the voice... a temperament and presence about him that screams RICH, EVIL, ASSHOLE. Not only that, but he has the ability to turn on the charm at a moments notice. THAT is why people are drawn to casting him as Lex Luthor.

It's not like I'm saying "Oh, he should be Professor X or he should be The Vulture. It's not about being bald or looking like a cartoon character. It's about the perfect actor for the perfect role.

"Dammit! I can't believe Wayne Enterprises pulled out of our deal! I'm so mad that now I'm going to go beat the shit out of Superman with my super suit!" -Lex Luthor

Brilliant casting. I especially like Bill Nighy as Alfred. I think Zane's getting a bit long in the tooth for Lex, now, though. But Bill Nighy is inspired.
