BOX OFFICE: TDKR Crosses $800 Million Worldwide; Well On Its Way To $1 Billion

BOX OFFICE: TDKR Crosses $800 Million Worldwide; Well On Its Way To $1 Billion

It looks likely that Christopher Nolan's third and final Bat-flick will join the billion dollar club after all, unless there is a dramatic decline in earning as it moves into its fifth week of release. Click for the figures..

After grossing $19.5 million at the US box office and $34.2 million internationally in its fourth weekend of release, The Dark Knight Rises has surpassed the $800 million mark at the worldwide box office. The movie now sits on a very impressive worldwide cumulative of $835.4 million, having taken in $445.3 million internationally and $390.1 million in the US in total.

Many wondered how the movie would be affected by the Colorado shootings, and although earnings have been lower than anticipated -- particularly at late evening screenings -- if The Dark Knight Rises continues to rake it in for another couple of weeks, it should have no problem reaching that $1 billion mark, joining that other great CBM of 2012, Marvel's The Avengers.

haha, I think it's funny. When it does hit 1 billion and we post the article about that, there will still be people writing "It'll never make a billion!"

I don't know why the children on here want to fight about these numbers. The more each CBM makes the better for CBM's as a whole. So just shut up, and enjoy the success this brings to CBM's!

I hope you are not.

my prediction was wrong,i didn't get one right this year.

still think batman begins & the dark knight are superior to this in almost every way,the dark knight rises wins only in the fight scene department.

I hope the Chinese are smart and go see TDKR instead of the yawn-fest that was TASM. The dark knight series deserves a good send off and a billion for the finale would be a good way to do that

So, there are 12 films that have grossed a billion dollars. Out of all those films only three weren't released or re released in 3D. Two of Nolan's Batman movies are on that list. Not too shabby.

The only thing i didn't like about tdkr is that batwan wasn't detective enough and too clumpsy.
I really liked the solid performances and acting.

We'll have to see what oversea's markets still need to open. Domestically it'll probably clear around 10 million next weekend and slide down from there. It'll need to make over 500 million internationally. It's not going to clear 500 million here in the states. China will make all the difference. It's going to be close but it may make it.

"particularly at late evening screenings"

If Colorado didn't affect TDKR, earnings would be level.

It had a effect on Every. Single. Day of it's run.

You don't get your "moment".

I don't get my "victory".

We don't get our "fun little war".

Not this year.

MOS vs IM3 will hopefully be different.

I really don't understand the 3d excuse.... People are willing to watch the movie with higher price. which mean the movie is really good.
3d is not the reason a movie is doing well in the box office, look at green lantern.

Tdkr is going to make a billion i hope. A success of one cbm is a good sign for the next cbm, no matter which studio

To be honest:

I hate TDKR.

I could be on either side, Marvelite or Nolanite.

Frankly, I couldn't give a flying [frick] about this childish bullshit.

Well...

@DoubleD

Can you tell me again how it is a bad thing that two of Nolan's Batman movies will have grossed over a billion dollars? You know since only 12 movies ever have been able to do that.

If you do that then I will tell you what a vagina feels like.

@SirWin i hope so but i don't see it. This week it made WW $54M. And next weekends i expect a near 50% drop, so it can add other $28+16+9+5 and so on WW. With even the gain during the week it can comfortably arrive to collect another 100 million. Then we shall see how much oriental market can add
