While chatting with Inquirer Christan Bale talked a little bit about the people he shares the screen with in The Dark Knight Rises. Bale said he has plenty of scenes with Anne Hathaway and said that Tom Hardy is a phenomenal actor. He also said that he is intrigued by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and appreciates his love of acting.

On Anne Hathaway:

“I had plenty of scenes with Anne, and I was there when we did the screen test for her. The thing that I said to Chris [Nolan] that day was that there were many very accomplished actresses who had read for the role. I’m terrible at auditions, so I’m very impressed when somebody really seems to acquire an ownership of a character without having worked on it or prepared for some amount of time.” I saw that in Anne, When Chris watched the screen test, he agreed that Anne did a wonderful job. In many ways, she has the hardest job. There are a number of people who feel that the Catwoman role has been defined previously. So, I always saw Anne’s role as being the toughest job of any of us. In my case, I’ve stopped referencing outside sources. I now reference Chris’ own world of Batman as a guide to what I will continue doing.”

On Tom Hardy:

"A phenomenal actor. I like working with him a great deal. He goes the whole hog. I know that Bane has been seen in movies before. But, in my eyes, Tom is essentially creating Bane for the first time so there’s great freedom for him to be able to do so.”

On Joseph Gordon-Levitt:

“Joseph is a very intriguing guy. I would see Joseph’s performances in other films while we were filming. He’s somebody who truly seems to love acting. He’s a good, smart guy. He did a very good job in the movie.”

The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Garly Oldman, Michael Caine, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and will be released on July 20, 2012.

Yea he ain't lying about Anne having the hardest job, but I think she will be fine. I do however wish she was wearing a cowl instead of those Cat-goggles

I just know Anne will be great. She will be the stand out star of this movie. She has to be, I mean she was up against Oscar winners for that role, and she still managed to nail the character in the AUDITION.

Movie will rock.

I hope their's a love scene between Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway, that would be great. Anne do currently have the toughest job right now, I hope she can pull off a spectacular performance, like she did in Rachel getting Marriad.

@Prot3ctor- This is Nolan's last Batman movie. The final conclusion to his franchise, full circle. So it's obvious if, and when, they make another Batman film, it'll be a remake, reboot, re-do.

This can be the best CBM trilogy ever! Can't wait :)

I do hope the make a reboot/re-do of Batman. This time make him more fearsome, angry , white-eyed and stay true to the comics and the batman we know and stop looking like a helpless mascot looking for attention. Seriously, the only part I like about this whole Nolan-induced version of Batman is the phenomenal story-telling besides that, the character presentation and appearance is seriously poor!

What made TDK so successful was that there was comic relief with Joker's character. I don't see that in this film, with these characters. Hopefully, I'm wrong. But if I'm right, why so serious?

Then again, I guess compromising laughter for Anne Hatheway bending over on all fours at just the right angle to make my giggle stick dance would suffice.

I'm sure the movie will be incredible. I mean, Nolan's never really given us a reason not to trust him. Those set pictures of Bane and Catwoman may look bad, but I'm keeping hope that it'll look much better on screen. Here's hoping (:

Ann has some big shoes to fill so it will be fun to see her takes on catwoman. I think she is a great actress she will do fine.@ mbembet you make a good point he is such a good character actor, he just throws himself into his roles.I would like to hear what the other actors think of him it should be as complementary to him as he was to them. I can't wait for this film.

Catwoman is a damn tricky character. All my concerns are about her. But yeah, i'm optimist! No comments about Hardy... Bane's gonna rock!

LOL, Nolan did make him "fearsome, angry , white-eyed"

Batman Begins was all about him being scary and angry. In TDK, he got white eyes in a way that was believable.

Batfans never satisfied even though Batman gets the most treatment on film and animation.

Godzillafart must not have watched the movies. Batman is a detective. He used his vast knowledge to track the bullet to who owned it. This Batman is tough and feared. Whatcha smoking ?

I still think JGL is Dick Grayson. He won't appear as Robin. Whenever he's asked he refuses to disclose anything about his character. Dick is Bruce's inside man at the GCPD. Ill believe it until I get a flat out NO

@Godzilla fart & mpk1988: you want more-detective Batman?? Even some of you think that TDK is more crime drama, and don't deserve 'comic book movie' genre. And now, you want more detective. What else will you say then? "It's a Holmes movie. Not superhero movie" HAHAHAHAHAHA...

It's only 2 hours movie with so many characters, dude.. Well u can have Batman as detective, and maybe it will be like Holmes Movie (more solving questions, character not well developed).. Well, i think track the bullet is enough to show him as detective. I don't wanna see Batman like Holmes movie.

I'm not Nolanite. But I think his Batman is detective enough in TDK. His Batman just like in the comics more than Burton/Schumacher's. The first Batman who will go overseas to get a criminal (to HongKong), show some detective work, etc. Where Burton/Schumacher's Batman is just only thug who fight for justice. Even Joker had to reveal himself as the murderer by saying "Have you ever danced with the devil?" or Batman would never find his parents' murderer..

Batman is not intimidating enough? Just go back and watch Batman Begins. Batman interrogate Flass. That's Batman.

Well I hate Bale's voice in TDK. If he can find his voice like in BB again for TDKR, we have our best Batman so far...

The reason why Nolan didn't use a lot of the detective side of Batman is because Nolan's Batman only comes out at night and has Gordon as an ally. In the real world a detective has to not only investigate in broad day light, but also talk to people and in Nolanverse that would undermine the mystery of the Batman if he started talking to people to get clues and tips.

"I've watched BB, and I think I could probably kick his ass...and I know plenty of guys that could kick my ass, so yes, Bale sucks."

@Godzillafart: It sounds more like you have personal issues with Christian Bale.

It would be amusing to see a fight between someone heavily armored and someone who's not. If that's the point you're trying to make?

"I've watched BB, and I think I could probably kick his ass...and I know plenty of guys that could kick my ass, so yes, Bale sucks."
Who can kick your ass? Warwick Davis maybe? HAHAHA.... What kind of statement is that? A guy who good enough to be Batman is a guy who can kick your ass??!! Maybe you can join the screen test for the reboot later.. Prepare your ass to be kicked by those actors who compete for the role.. Don't forget to get insurance first, dude.... At least, they will have your name in the credits right?? "Thanks for Godzillafart for giving his ass" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"Tracking the bullet was shitty, unbelievable detective work. Sucked very bad. Did you have a point?"
Why do you think it was shitty? Why it sucked very bad? Why? Because he use his gadgets more than his brain? or maybe because Bruce didn't use magnifying glass just like detective?

.
GarbageJuicer
GarbageJuicer - 11/26/2011, 11:46 AM
@Godzillafart: I respect your opinion but your arguments don't really make valid points. You're saying you think Bale is a shitty Batman because you can " kick his ass" or because "he's not intimidating to you."
