Bryan Cranston, the man seen by most fans as THE man to play Lex Luthor on screen, has finally spoken about the role. In an interview this morning on The Howard Stern Show the Breaking Bad star revealed that while he would have loved to play the villain, he was never asked to do so.
When asked about the rumours he had this to say:
In the minds of fans, it's true, in the minds of the hierarchy of Warner Brothers, it's not true. I was not involved in any of that whatsoever.

When asked about how the role would have effected his career, he described it as, "a twenty, it's a life changing role", one that he'd have loved to take on.

Thanks to CBM's Brainiac3000 for the source! What do you think? Should Warner Bros. have offered Cranston the role? Or was Jesse Eisenberg the right choice? Sign off your thoughts on the news below!

Walt in Season One even resembles Gordon in some ways. If you intentionally try to make Cranston look like Gordon I reckon he would nail it.

That's some badass shit. I'll let you throw a few at my neighbour's dogs.

The way he puts himself out there these days, I think he just wants to land in a memorable movie, not just be the only thing anyone remembers from it. He could have been a great Lex.

Lmao @ Gusto! I'd hate to know what you did with the mashed potatoes...

Yeah, Cranston wasn't even considered? That hurts but he's still available for Gordon, which I'd much rather see him do. I do believe he was too old but considering how things turned out... Only time will tell how smart of a decision it was.

I once nailed an opossum to the inside of my trashcan from my third story Window, with a crossbow bolt. The trash man had an awesome surprise the next morning cause it was still living.

I know him being involved wad bullshit , soon as they announced Jessie. They were looking for the complete opposite of Cranston.

Half of what makes the Eisenburg shit so bad is having genuinely brilliant picks dangled in front of us only to get the ultimate Rick Roll

My thoughts exactly Omega

For these reason DC have only 2 good superhero movies in 40 years, SUPERMAN and TDK.

I think Phoenix would have been perfect, but Eisenberg will deliver a very fresh, new take on the character that neither readers nor gen audience have seen before. I think this is what Luthor needs right now. Lex Luthor: Man of Steel was a very relatable and humanizing take I hope they consider.

In All-Star Superman, I love:

  • How they show him working out (his ambition is to be the true modern Renaissance man, it only makes sense),

  • The scene where he fakes his death (it was perfect, and fits the character), and

  • How they show a Lex hideout with his costumes through the years

Snyder likes paying homage to the history of his DC characters, so even though Eisenberg is playing Luthor, I hope they incorporate some of these elements in there.
