James Wan Addresses BATMAN V SUPERMAN Backlash

We've heard from famed comic book writers, the cast of the film, and people with no ties to the world of comic book movies when it comes to the negative criticisms that plagued Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now, fellow DC film director James Wan has revealed his thoughts regarding the negativity surrounding Batman v Superman during a recent interview with BadTaste. It"I think it's a world that is so difficult to control, and always expectations of fans are out of this world, right? No pun intended. I know how hard it is, from making Conjuring 2, how much anticipation there is just from the first movie. I think you do the best you can, and tell the best story you can."

That isn't to say that Wan isn't taking note of the criticisms surrounding previous DC films. Batman v Superman was rather a dark film, both literally and figuratively, and fans have been speculating as to whether or not the rest of the upcoming DC Films would follow the same path. Well, that doesn't seem to be the case. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wan revealed that Aquaman would be exploring the brighter side of Atlantis. "It won't be very dark...It is at the bottom of the ocean, so I'll use a lot of light!"

Seeing how The Conjuring 2 is set to hit theaters next week, Wan is going to be shifting his focus entirely on the production of Aquaman. It's only a matter of time until Wan can speak more freely about the King of Atlantis and his first solo film. What do you think about James Wan's comments?

I'm sorry, I respect Wan, but the expectations for BvS were high, but BvS could have absolutely delivered under a MUCH more competent director. Don't blame a shit movie's response on "very high expectations". It was just poorly made.

@BatmanHeisenberg - True, although if I was directing a DC movie I wouldn't have answered honestly either lol

I disagree with Wan here. The reason BvS got bad reviews is because the movie itself is a cluster[frick]. Two and a half years of production time and the best snyder could come up with is "Martha" and Edward "Lex Luthor" Nygma? Blaming the negative reviews on high expectations is lame.

I would say that BVS was a movie that was easier to get right than it was to ruin it.
There have been other films of a similar ilk which they could have used as Inspiration along with decades worth of comics.
Unfortunately we got a convoluted mess.
They should have made a sequel to MOS with a Batman Cameo.

More non opinion from those involved in the DCEU. Must be hard to not be able to say anything negative or to even be able to differentiate yourself from the mess.

Wan's a talented director. I liked Furious 7 and he's made the few modern mainstream horror films that didn't make me want to put a fork in my eye.

@Quicker - You hated BvS but liked Fast 7. You're blowing my mind right now.

@nibs - I didn't hate BvS. I thought it was okay. I'll defend it ormake fun of it every now and then, but I'm not going out of my way to do either.
