Tomorrow we get to meet the prince of Wakanda for the first time in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, and soon after he'll take on the big screen in his first standalone film in 2018. Fans and critics have praised Chadwick Boseman's fierce performance as Black Panther in Civil War, and in a recent interview with USA Today, Boseman spoke about what he himself loves about the character and his introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"You could be having a great time with him at a party, and all of a sudden he disappears and no one knows where he is,” said Boseman. “It puts him in a position where he’s always going to be misunderstood by people. I love that aspect because it creates a dark side to him.” The actor also went on to talk about the future of the hero in MCU and preparing to take on his own adventures. “I felt a constant anticipation of what’s to come while doing this, which is a beautiful thing. You always know this is going to get better and better.”

We probably won't be able to see Black Panther again until his standalone film in 2018, but Boseman is eager to get started on the film and believes that “it’s going to be a very difficult thing to pull off and you only do this if you’re willing to go for broke with it.” The actor also revealed that he talks to director Ryan Coogler on a weekly basis and says it's “a good partnership."

Take a look at this all-new featurette for Captain America: Civil War that shifts the focus on Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Panther is great in Civil War. He actually manages to have an arc, which a lot of others don't get.

In fact, one critique I might make of the otherwise excellent film is that Cap's arc is a little weak. He basically starts to do things for selfish reasons when it comes to Bucky, but otherwise he doesn't change that much as a character. The world changes around him instead.

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - Well that has sort of been Cap's thing in the MCU. He hasn't had much character development in terms of personality, instead he's been compelling because he changes those around him. That was sort of the appeal of Winter Soldier, throw him in with shades of grey spies and he works as a reverse virus of good and honesty, and it continues here.

But his real arc has been he's relationship with government/country, which clearly reaches its peak in this movie, with a particularly strong image at the end which I won't spoil

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - thanks so much for this info. I really was worried that he would just be a tokenized magical (that word) who did cool shit and nothing else. From what you say, he is not only badass but well characterized. I cant wait yo watch tomorrow. Ryan Coogler and co will do him justice.

He NAILED IT in Civil War! Black Panther is about to be every kids favorite superhero. He's amazing in this film!

Cant wait for Coogler to give us something special. I love how The Russso brought Coogler on set, and into the editing room, and allowed him to influence the character and give input on some things. Its gonna be his baby soon anyway.

@Aeggie - there's no token anything here. He's a well fleshed out character with great motivations, cool dialogue and a BIG PRESENCE. When he enters the room, all eyes are on him. He commands attention.

Panther was the MVP of Civil War. Great character arc/subplot, great characterization, awesome action scenes. Seriously was the best character to me.
