How Marvel has set Black Pabther up for failure

Black Panther originally was supposed to come out on November 3, 2017 but now it is coming out July 6, 2018... exactly one week before Fox's untitled Marvel film

It really bothers me that movies rarely have a minority in a leading role in a action movie, and now that Marvel is taking a chance on Black Panther is really good but when I see what it is that they are doing... it really pisses me off.
Black Panther is now coming out on July6, 2018... a whole year after it was expected to be released but because MArvel was soooooo spiderman thirsty everything under the sun got pushed back for it. I think it's cool tht black panther is getting the July 4th weekend but my problem lies with the fact Marvel decided to put a brand new, un-tested franchise out a week befor a Fox untitled Marvel film. THere is simplyn i way BP can out do a Fox run Marvel movie.
ME myself bring a minority knows exactly how this is going to go down, It will come in first place the opening weekend, and then it will continue to drop. Unlike Ms. MArvel, black panther doesn't have "months" to make it's money... it has a week. One it fao;s MArvel is going to say" oh well we tried to bring a minority character to the front ;light but it just didn't work out," He might get more movie( at this rate, he won't unless Denzel is playing tchaka). This movie needs to be moved to the JUne month of 2018 when no movie comes out which would be perfect.  ALl this is going to do is make studios believe that a black lead won't work even though this movie isn't being given a truly fair chance.

I really don't know exactly what Marvel is doing but I am not at all happy. I am not falling for what itisi they are doing or trying to do. I am soooo mad, and so should you.  Your not slick Feige,,, you're not slick.

Oh please! Thor 3 comes out 2 weeks before Justice League. He's the one getting screwed over. Feige lied when he said Ragnarok was "very important".

Also we don't even know what Fox mystery movie is and we have 3 and a half years before Black Panthers release. Also, just because there's competition the next week doesn't mean that it's going to fail. X-Men Days of Futures Past did absolutely fine when it had some stiff competition when it released. At this point you're just assuming that Black Panther is going to fail.

Be honest Joey. You don't even really like BP as a character huh? You just hopped on the bandwagon because he's a black character and "we need more diversity zomg!!!! Blah blah racists blah blah so unfair blah blah....". Come on man. Action movies rarely have a minority in a leading role? Really? I'm not even going to start on your ATROCIOUS grammar, the race baiting is getting absolutely ridiculous in this country.

I think the facts here are overly exaggerated. Black Panther got pushed back 8 months -not a year. Inhumans has the same push back. Yet, nobody is putting that out. Captain Marvel and Thor each got pushed back 4 months. ALL of Phase 3 movies after Sony's Spider-Man got pushed back -except Avengers: Infinity War. Black Panther is not being set up for failure as any of the other movies being pushed back. If anything it gives more time in development to get the movie right.

Yes, it's unfortunate but these ARE the dates Marvel already has set up. And the movies are in a particular order for a reason. If Thor and Black Panther were set up differently then one would be 4 months and the other 8 months. 4 month difference is nothing. Doctor Strange got pushed back 4 months as well when Phase 3 was announced.

Essentially, SONY took a MCU date from Marvel Studios in order to have a Spider-Man movie out on Marvel's terms. This is the price in order to have Spider-Man in the MCU. We only get 2 MCU movies in 2017 -not 3 as originally was scheduled. Regarding the changes I don't think Marvel had any other choice in the manner. Marvel knows what it's doing so far -give them the benefit of the doubt.

@DeusExSponge

Marvel doesn't care for Thor. His movies are the weakest in the MCU, his hammer is currently being held by a girl, and now, he's been replaced by Spidey.

Marvel Studios [frick]ed up getting Spidey. Yea I said it.

Allow Sony to still do Spidey spinoffs in the MCU without any involvement from Marvel Studios. Pushing back all of Phrase 3 and not holding off on Spidey til Phrase 4?

Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon.

The spinoffs won't be canon to the MCU. You won't see the Marvel Studios logo in any of those spinoffs.

So a spin-off of a movie that is canon, isn't canon??? That makes no sense...

Ramiel - Damn sad truth right there, although I thought Thor 1 was one of the better movies in Phase 1. Thor has been nerfed so hard in the MCU, the guy has been a punching bag for most of his appearances and what not. I honestly hope Thor Ragnarok is as important as Marvel is saying it is, I want them to do Thor justice and give him a buff in powers. The guy should be near Superman level dammit! They can copy the action from Man of Steel for all I care, but do Thor justice for god sakes!

When people see Spidey in Sony's movies in Sinister Six and Venom and then see Spidey in Infinity War and Civil War. How do you explain that they aren't canon?
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 2/10/2015, 7:03 PM
Hey guys! We have Spidey in the MCU now!!! We also have spin offs of Spidey films coming out.

So let's see. I see Spidey in Civil War. Then I see Doc Ock later that year on the big screen in Sinister Six.

Doc Ock is a villain of Spider-Man. Sinister Six must take place in the MCU since Spidey does!!!

1) Not news.
2) Man... it's not that terrible. And it's also expectable that a far more popular franchise like Spider-Man will have more privileges than a relatively unkown character.
3) Pretty much all you said abot the movie failing was also said about GotG and look how that turned out in the end.
4) It gives more time to work on the script and make a better Black Panther movie.

Having Spidey in the MCU then his spin offs aren't canon is like having Flash & Atom (if he does get his own show) are canon to Arrow when they are in Arrow episodes but when they are on their own shows, they aren't canon or take place in Arrow's universe.

It's [frick]ed up.

Right, even if it isn't "canon" it will still feel like it's "canon". Those spin-offs will be connected just by association with the Spider-Man films.

@Levi

Where in the press release did it say that the spinoffs would be canon to the MCU? You won't see the Marvel Studios logo in of the spinoffs. I guarantee that.
