It's good to be the King.
While
Black Panther was always going to hit big, I'm not sure even Marvel expected it to explode quite the way it has. Sitting comfortably with a 97% / 79%
Rotten Tomatoes score and staying on top of the box office for four weekends straight, the Ryan Coogler directed film has now amassed a world-wide total of $1.101 billion at the box office.
This means the film has overtaken the $1.084 billion earnings of 2012's
The Dark Knight Rises and seen the Marvel movie through to the number 20 spot in the list of all time highest grossing films.

With the marked increase in ticket prices in recent years, more and more newer movies are crossing the billion-dollar mark at the box offic.
The Dark Knight Rises for instance back in 2012, was placed 7th and is now at 21. In fact
three films just last year, passed the $1 billion mark entering the Top 20.
Some might wonder where
Black Panther will ultimately end up and how long it'll stay there, but for now as the film enters its first full month in cinemas and shows no signs of slowing down - Wakanda is forever.
What do you think? Has Black Panther more than earned its spot? Which films were you surprised to see on the Top 20? Where do you think Black Panther's box office total will end up when the film completes it's run? Leave your thoughts below.
