Marvel Studios' Blade reboot continues to round out its cast, and the latest actor to join Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire-hunter is Krypton alum Aaron Pierre.
Deadline broke the news, but no details on Pierre's character were provided. However, the trade does mention that his role "was one of the more highly coveted parts in Hollywood." Apparently, the studio always wanted Delroy Lindo for his role (also undisclosed), but Kevin Feige and director Bassam Tariq met with dozens of up-and-coming actors before Pierre ultimately landed the gig.
If Pierre is playing the villain there's a decent chance he'll be Deacon Frost, but there are plenty of other possibilities, including Blade's ally Hannibal King.
Kit Harington is expected to reprise the role of Dane Whitman after Ali made his (offscreen) debut as the Daywalker in Eternals' post-credits scene, which teased a team-up between the two characters. A recent casting call also suggested that Blade will introduce Whitman's love interest Faiza Hussain, aka Excalibur.
Pierre played Dev-Em in SyFy's now cancelled Krypton, and also appeared in the likes of The Underground Railroad, Britannia, and M. Night Shyamalan's Old. He will provide the voice of a young Mufasa in Disney's upcoming The Lion King prequel.
Blade is sceduled to begin production this summer.
