Captain America Filming In Times Square; Chris Evans And Sam Jackson In Attendance!

Captain America Filming In Times Square; Chris Evans And Sam Jackson In Attendance!

No pictures of the two have found their way online yet, but we do have a couple of blurry images of the filming location as well as details on the shooting of what may have been the after credits scene...

Thanks to some lucky New York residents in Times Square while filming was taking place, we now have some fairly solid details of what exactly was going on. Here's a brief rundown from the general chatter on Twitter coming mainly from @SaFiRu7 who was kind enough to keep us all updated as to what exactly was happenning.

-Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson were filming a scene together.

-Chris Evans was not in costume as Captain America.

-Today was apparently the final day of filming for Captain America: The First Avenger.

-It would appear that the scene was set in the present day, not the 1940s.

And here are a couple of blurry screengrabs I nabbed off of a live video feed of Times Square in New York:

Anyone else think that looks like it could be Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury? Be sure to share your thoughts on all this news in the usual place, and if you have any photos from today's filming, get in touch by clicking on the "Contact Me" link at the top left hand side of this page!

Thanks to On Location Vacations for the early heads up on this filming!

Starring Chris Evans as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips, Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in 3D on July 22.

I think it's either the scene after the end credits
or that Captain America is frozen after the war and once the action moves to modern times

pretty sweet I guess, Post credit scene possibly? who knows, something serious must be happening since theres a shit load of what looks like SHIELD cars that were at those comic conventions. Looking forward to the movie, cant wait. But isn't it a bit late to be shooting this, who knows could be avengers. But I doubt it.

Of course that's Fury, look at that signature coat! Looks like a scene where Cap wakes up in present day and is absolutely stunned by what he sees in Times Square as Nick Fury explains everything to him.

Post Credit Scene....
Cap'n A: Gosh, thanks for unfreezing me Mr. Fury!
Fury: No problem Steve-O. Lets get you back to work - Look up!
Cap: Oh #%@!, Flying Saucers!
Building start blowing up. People screaming. Out of the chaos Hulk emerges and roars at the camera! Iron Man in Hulk busting armor lands in front of Hulk. Seeing only the back of Iron Man we hear his repulsars charging up.

Wow, they're cutting it real close with the deadline to show it on theaters is July 22... I hope the end result doesn't look like frigging rush job since I have high hopes for this film.

Despite recent reports that filming would not begin filming on The Avengers Until Monday in New Mexico, we have heard that production (in New York) began in Feb. We have also heard reports that there has been sporadic filming here and there.

DCMF reported last week that filming would take place in New York and posted photos of the permits.

I would venture a guess that this is not for Captain America at all but is in fact filming for The Avengers.

BTW...godd stuff Josh!

It could be the present day "bookend" for Captain America.
ckirk8
ckirk8 - 4/23/2011, 1:05 PM
Yeah, I think it's either a present day bookend for Captain America: TFA or a small scene for the Avengers.

@Hawks you might be right dude, because I was under the impression that SLJ had already done his scenes for Cap.

@BlackSands its one scene, its not the whole movie thats been shot now. So I doubt it will looked rushed.
AskaniSon
AskaniSon - 4/23/2011, 1:08 PM
@BlackSands I believe this is part of the reshoots, so they're not really cutting it close. They likely won't have to do much editing to this scene anyway, so you really don't have anything to worry about.

Thats Nick alright! I can tell. I kinda don't want it to be an post credits scene, mainly because I want Sam to be in the actual film itself. I mean he did In IM, he finally got to have more screen time in IM2, and now I hear about the Thor post credits scene. Don't get me wrong, Im in love with the post credits scenes, but Sam should be in the movie, post credits scenes feel like deleted jems for movie fans to sit and wait for.

Im curious about Caps look there, I mean, would it be with her 40's look? or a modern look for a scene set some months after the end of Captain America: TFA?

Why don't people want to be surprised with the end credit scene. That's like the best part of the movie I won't re ad this article.

definitely sounds like Cap is unfrozen in present-day by SHIELD, and Nick Fury recruits him to the avengers
Killuminatic

I think the first book end/opening scene is gonna be Cap being found, and then unfrozen. He wakes up and finds himself in a S.H.I.E.L.D facility, but he thinks that it's still the 40's and he's been captured by Hydra... His concern for Bucky and everything else that has happened up till now has implicated his mind. He fights with many S.H.I.E.L.D agents and manages to escape only to discover what seems to be a new age, a new generation... Our hero, lost in time, roams the streets of New York bewildered by everything that catches his gaze. He aproaches a passer by saying "Where am I!"
Guy: "Why, you're in New York city buddy."
Cap: "New York? What year is this!"
Guy: "2011, where've you been dude?"
Cap: "No no! This can't be!"
He runs, runs to no end, his mind full of questions, and full of despair... He stops, standing in the middle of Times Square, we get a 360 shot of him, his face saying a thousand words... He glances at one of the big screens on top of a building, it advertises - STARK EXPO 2011 "Better Living Through Technology" and shows a picture of Tony Stark. Cap speaks only a name, "Stark." Cap kneels to the ground, he looks to the ground and says "What happened?" and then looks back up again. The camera zooms into his eyes and then the story of our hero begins... The final Bookend/final scene/post credits scene goes back to where the first bookend left off. We see many S.H.I.E.L.D vehicles surrounding Times Square, with agents coming out, ready to aprehend our hero. Nick Fury comes out of one of the vehicles and says to Cap - "Things have changed, the war is over..."
Please tell me what you think of my idea guys... :D Don't mind the speech it isn't the best, I had to rush u see. Oh and I think The Avengers should start off where the final bookend of Cap left off... :D
