Tommy Lee Jones to Mentor the Young Captain America?

Tommy Lee Jones to Mentor the Young Captain America?

UGO is reporting this as a RUMOR, but none the less a satisfying one.

Reportedly, Tommy Lee Jones has been offered the role to play a certain Military Leader who hand picks Steve Rogers for the Super Soldier program in The First Avenger: Captain America. Take this with a grain of salt as the news is reported as rumor from a very trusted UGO source.

This is great news for Captain America. Tommy Lee Jones is no stranger to playing military personal. Tommy will join an already great cast making it better. Let's hope this rumor plays out as it will definitely better Joe Johnston's 'The First Avenger: Captain America'!

The First Avenger: Captain America is scheduled to hit theaters on July 22 2011!

In the comics, does that character have any real significance to the rest of the story? Or would it just end up being a bit part?

I don't know who recruited Cap originally, but it would be cool if Jones was kind of like WW2 classic Nick Fury. I still think it would be a cool idea to make the white Nick Fury a hero from WW2 and Jackson's Nick Fury a guy who admired him and took the name as an alias.

Two-Face as Captain America's mentor? How can that end well????? In the words of our recently revealed friend, "I SAY THEE NAY!"

@teabag yea i kinda got that feeling too.. in the movie comic also it kinda hints he was there so maybe they really are gonna find a way to make it work.. but im still not sold on it.

@DasBoot, as far as i know, the general who recruited him didnt do much else besides that. Then again, I don't remember Cap in the comics receiving too many orders from higher ups. We usually just saw him in action. There might have been more info in the older comics.

Still, it would make sense to give the general who recruits him a bigger role. He recruited Steve, and then oversees him in the army. Someone has to give steve orders and instructions, and it would make sense to get one good actor to do it.

I have an unreciprocated bromance with TLJ. I'd love this if it were true.

What about if Jones plays the guy that recruits him/Reinstein (sp?). I'd like to see something like that happen and then Cap' forms a bond with him and looks at him like the Father figure he lost so many years before hand. Then when TLJ gets killed by a nazi spy, it creates an interesting emotional arc for Cap'

But wait, TLJ already played Two-Face in Batman Forever over 10 years ago! Everyone in the audience will get confused and think that he's playing Harvey Dent!

Oh noes!

Assuming we're talking about Gen. Chester Philips here, I could see it work. Though I liked Dale Dye for the role, myself.

This news is so outta left field, therefore, it must be true. So far, if you look at it as a whole, the casting rumors for Cap are pretty accurate. TLJ would be a great addition to this cast.

Good actors like him take crappy roles for the paycheck. They do that because the roles that require their skills do not pay the bills for the most part.
ASSASSIN666
ASSASSIN666 - 4/30/2010, 4:41 PM
Cyclop- He's a punk because I said so which should be good enough for you. The worst choice for the role as far as I go. He needs to start throwing some iron around and try looking like a f**king man instead of a frat boy who parties too much. As far as girlfriends go mine isn't moving from my side jackass. Maybe he could steal your boyfriend though, he looks gay enough to try.
