Chris Evans Talks Captain America Costume!

Empire Online now has a new article showing what Chris "Captain America" Evans thinks about the suit the guys at Marvel has made for him to attire in the July 22, 2011 film, "Captain America: The First Avenger".

What Chris Evans had to say: "It’s an amazing costume. Given the fact that his costume is red, white and blue, and it’s tight, and it could be kind of flash and over the top – and given the fact that the movie takes place in the ‘40s and ‘50s – they’ve done a really good job of making it look really cool."

"I think everyone that’s going to see it is going to say, 'Okay, well done. Well done. I think they got the costume right. The casting they completely ruined, but the costume they nailed!'"

Haha, I give Evans props for recognising the fact that fans have not been warm to the idea of him taking on the role...

Also, Evans talked about the shield: “We’ve been testing a lot of shields. Last time I was in London they had six shields and I had to hold each one, see if I was comfortable with each one, see which one we all thought had the right look. The thing is pretty heavy, so I’m not sure I can throw it that far! I’ll give it my best shot, but hopefully they’ll have some sort of stunt shield when it comes to actually chucking it!”

Nice, this all sounds great!

"Captain America: The First Avenger" will be released on July 22, 2011, starring Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Toby Jones, Dominic Cooper, Samuel L. Jackson and Neal McDonough!

HA!!! Good man ;)

He'll be an awesome Cap, i'm sure! Go ahead and Rocketeer the [frick]er, Johnson! LOL

Oh and he's right. Chiklis is pretty heavy, especially in his orange rubber suit. I'd be surprised if Evans could lift him, let alone throw him far :P

I like that he has a good sense of humor about it. Not the perfect Steve Rogers, but I think he'll pull it off. If there's multiple shields they're testing, I don't think the modern-looking concept art is his only suit. And since he's aware the movie is partially set in the 40s, there's a good chance his first suit is more retro.

fanboiii- I actually hope it is more retro for the WW2 scenes. I want the modern suit we saw to be the end suit when he thaws out.

Since they are filming in England, I wonder if they will be able to keep it as secretive as they did with Thor....

Hope not!

he'll be fine as Cap. and you know he'll have the more retro costume in WWII. it wouldn't make any sense to have that modern looking thing 60 years ago.

I hope Chris Evans knows, his career isn't taking off any time soon, if he doesn't live up to the performance to the character! XD

Fanboiii - "Not the perfect Steve Rogers, but I think he'll pull it off".

Better hope so, knowing this film falls on his shoulders. XD

Minotauro- "This film falls on his shoulders"

Too true. This is no time for him to pull off a Nick Cage especially when he isn't Nick Cage. His very carreer could take a huge hit. And Marvel could kiss Avengers goodbye! Although... if he bombs... there's always Jensen Ackles... *wink* *wink* LMAO ;P

Minotauro @ He better, AVENGERS is riding on him too!

Anyway, that's a poor excuse for CAP's costume, wings or pained wings on his mask is a must, plus no ULTI stars on his shoulders geezuz! : P

Then we got CAPTAIN AMERICA!

@Shaman - Aaaaahhhhh, mmmaaaannnn... Jensen (T)Ackles? Nah, but I just can't see Chris in this movie after watching him in Losers. Doesn't strike me as the serious type! ;P Nic Cage on the other hand, feels the need to make another Ghost Rider!? When clearly he's the one needing changing! XD

@LEEE - yeah, I hear ya. ;P

I'm really looking forward to this, Chris Evans would make a good Captain America, the costume looks decent but I agree with LEEE777 the classic costume is the best

I was much more happier with Chris Evans than I would have been with the other rumored canidates.

Yeah, gotta love his self-depreciating humor. A humble actor? Whaaa?!?!

I read elsewhere that he said that suit was more bulky and restricting than his fantastic 4 costume. This is what I was afraid of. I hope he has enough freedom of movement to fight like Cap

This is an Awesome interview. I think his personality is great for the character.
