On The "Hobbit Feet" He Had To Wear On The Manchester Set:
"Man, I'm Frodo Baggins today! They're pretty comfortable, though. I forget I'm wearing them sometimes, and I glance down and go, 'Jeez! What have I stepped in?' I'm already tired. I'm sick of running. Too many days of running. But I'm excited for it."
On Wearing The Costume And The Responsibility That Comes With It:
"I've gotten a bit more used to it. I'm trying to approach this as if it wasn't a superhero movie. It's just about a guy who gets this amazing gift. But the first time I put on the costume, it was a real mix of excitement and terror. 'What have I gotten myself into?' But it's started to feel more like home. A lot of responsibility comes with this costume, I hope I'm doing it justice. Man, I could be wearing this for ten years!"
On What He Knows About The Avengers:
"I don't know anything. I don't even know what they're thinking, plotwise. It's strange; I'm in a movie and I've no idea what it's about! It's a blind challenge I'm facing."
On Steve Rogers As A Character, And What Makes Him Special:
"He's the ideal human. Not just American. It's what beong a good person is. Steve has overcome all the shortcomings in life and does what's good, what he believes is right."
On Taking On The Nazis:
"When this comic book was created, at a time of Hitler and the Nazis, it was an evil we can all agree was evil! It's pretty much not up for debate. Nobody is like, 'No, the Nazis were alright and I'm gonna tell you why! It's the [frick]ing Nazis and they're going down."
Many thanks to
Empire Magazine for both the above quotes and the following scene descriptions. Be sure to pick up the issue for more details on the movie, as well as an amusing description of how the crew wound up waiting paparazzi on the Manchester set with the use of a fake Captain America costume!
The chase - the first big action sequence - will end with Rogers diving into the Ocean and going after Kruger, by now in a handily place submarine. For now, Evans is spriniting around a corner, again and again, crashing into a pile of garbage cans.
After he's turned into Captain America, Rogers - the last of his kind, thus too valuable to risk on the battlefield - is paraded before troops to boost morale. There are songs. There is dancing. There's a ceremonial costume that's darned close to the comic book vintage.
Empire is shown impressive concept art, including a giant aerial battle with Cap combating his nemesis, Hugo Weaving's Red Skull, against the backdrop of dozens of clashing planes.
Apart from bookends that locate Cap firmly in the present day, The First Avengers stands alone from its teammates.
Captain America: The First Avenger is set to be released on July 22, later this year!
