The actor, who plays Howard Stark (father of Tony "Iron Man" Stark) in the WWII set movie, has talked briefly with Herald Scotland about his experiences so far of working on a big budget film like Captain America. And although he doesnt reveal anything about his role, it seems like director Joe Johnston is doing a fine job so far.

"It’s amazing being around such professionals, such a finely oiled operation. At the same time, the amount of waiting around as scenes are perfected has been something of a culture shock."

"It’s a funny one. You spend all this time going, 'God, I can't do another one of these independent films where I’m carrying the camera myself across a river to make the shot. I want to do big budget.' Then suddenly you are on a big-budget movie and you miss the guerilla filming of doing an independent."

Are you looking forward to seeing the British actor play Howard Stark in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie? Share your thoughts in the usual place! Captain America: The First Avenger will be released on July 22, 2011.

Nice find JoshW. I'm still not sure whether Captain America will be the best film of next year. It's between that and Thor. I like Cap more as a character, but Thor has the Destroyer.

I've learn to not put much faith in actors talking about how great their movie is going to be. Can't wait to get more info, though!

I can't wait to see the Invaders in action. The best thing here is Marvel has control of Namor so theres no excuse to screw the character up. Now as far as Howard Stark goes. They way Marvel is setting this story line up is really interesting,a nd it does seem like they are trying the best they can to make this movie into a decent epic journey instead of just cramming everything into one crappy film

@ BIGBMH: I never put my "faith" in anything. I just let the evidence speak for itself.

And people attached to a movie project won't ever do anything but say positive stuff, because there may be consequences if they say anything negative.

Juggernaut - May I hand you a rant on symantics? Thank you.

I would just like to say that "faith" as used above really contains the idea that the statements of actors in the past have failed to be predictors of the final quality of a film. That is, they are unreliable EVIDENCE of a films quality. So even though the word "Faith" is used, it really is a statement on evidence. I find this is frequently the case.

He would make a good hobbit. Kind of a strange looking guy. Don't see him as Stark, but hope he does the part justice.

Did anyone like the Rocketeer or Jurassic Park 3 or the Wolfman? I am kind of worried about Joe's skills as a director. Weren't they all flops at the box office?

xbigvmanx - Have you ever seen The Rocketeer, Jumanji, October Sky, or Honey I shrunk the Kids? Those are all projects that JJ was on from the beginning and got to do things his way.

The other you mentioned were projects he came on late. Either stop trolling or get off of JJ's ass and do some research.

Ok I did see Rocketeer as a teen and I thought it was okay. I distinctly remember it didn't do so great at the box office. Never seen October Sky when I saw the trailer it never caught my interest. Honey I shrunk the kids was fun. If I had to choose his best work it was Jumanji.

Its funny very few actor would really ever have the balls to say the truth about a film with any director. Cmon man it not like they are going to savatage the movies that they are working in. Of course they are gonna say that their "Boss" Joe Johnston knows whats hes doing. And that the film would be a success.

I have never read a film article where one of the actor said.........hey who's studio exec's cousin did they give a directors position too he has no damn clue what hes doin?
