Ed Brubaker, the current writer of the Captain America comic book, has talked on his Twitter account (brubaker) about the possibility of Chris Evans being the actor who'll weild the shield in The First Avenger: Captain America! Although he doesnt confirm the news, his reaction is most definitely a positive one while he seems to feel the same way that most of us do when it comes to the Fantastic Four movie!

Here are his most recent "Tweets" on the subject:

If Chris Evans actually has the role, I'm good with that. He was easily the best thing in the FF movies and he's been amazing in some others

Like I said, though, I wasn't a consultant and I have NO IDEA if he's actually got the gig or not.

Favreau would know. I don't.

It's honestly hard to remember much of the FF movie past them ruining Doctor Doom

trust the guys at Marvel studios to know this stuff. They've cast well so far in their movies

The First Avenger: Captain America is set to be released on July 22, 2011 and is directed by Joe Johnston.

"Favreau would know. I don't."

Favs tweeted last night about the casting, saying that it continues the trend of playing 2 Marvel characters. His tweet basically confirmed it for me.

And yay, Evans is Cap :)

Evans is an actor that can play someone like Human Torch.
So I don't believe is a good idea.

Yup, Mr. Evans was by far the best choice. I remember when i first heard of the First Avenger project i had no idea who was going to get the role, i'm glad it's former Flame Boy, and not any of the other yahoos, no offense.

"trust the guys at Marvel studios to know this stuff. They've cast well so far in their movies"

Dude is right.

I always thought they'd cast a blue-eyed blond guy with a "good boy stare", like Michael Cassidy. Evans has a "bad boy stare", plus, he's not THAT different looking from Chris Hemsworth. The Avengers trinity - Cap, IM and Thor - is going to have two guys who look a bit alike, Cap and Thor.

By the way, Brubaker, lame hat.

Sad day for CAPTAIN AMERICA!

I find it almost weird that his comments aren't as political as one might expect them to be. I would think being employed by Marvel he would be more enthusiastic about any and all things Marvel for the fear of a hit being put on his life lol

They need to film 4-F Steve Rogers now and give him until filming actually begins to gain about 25 pounds of muscle.

Nice Bman-I'd like to raise that up the pole!

Lee-What movies are you going to watch? No Cap, Spidey, X-Men or Wolverine. Its going to be Rom-Coms and period pieces for you the next few years

LEE: What are you on dude? Fair enough you dont like Chris Evans as Cap but how can you call Brubaker an ass!?! The guy's one of the best writers out there! What he's saying above is the truth and I guess that for you, the truth hurts! ;D

@LEEE's "Who cares what that A$$ thinks." remark.

Who gives a flying frick what you think, chump!

Brubaker's words and opinions mean far more than yours do you jack-*ss! He is the writer for Cap, so he is a big reason everyone likes Cap! (at least for the current generation). What have you contributed to Cap or Marvel characters in general?! You're the lame fricking nobody, NOT Brubaker!

Wrong! It's just a sad day for you lamers! Just like InTylerWeTrust said, you guys will still be at the movies watching it regardless of whether you like it or not. Stop crying that you didn't get what you wanted 100%!

Ok so a couple people don't care about brubakers opinion. Well practically NO ONE cares about yours so save it morons

No one is going to confuse Hemsworth and Evans, aside from the mutually squinty eyes Hemsworth is 6'6" Evans is 6'. Half a foot in height a great distinction makes. C'mon now your just nit picking needlessly.

The only choice better for this role would have been me and my sorry but my schedule is booked solid. Evans will be a fine Cap'n. He is a good enough actor and has the presence that this role commands. Have faith

Leee, I love ya buddy, but you do this with every casting. The studio presents option A, B, C, or D and you come outta left field with option Q (a la Baking Soda) which was an actor that the studio never even looked at and then you proceed to bitch like there's no tomorrow about how pissed you are that this dude who was never even under consideration wasn't cast. Dude, I can understand being upset about one or two things, but you're anti-Spidey reboot, anti-Disney/Marvel (If I remember right), anti-new Supes without Routh... All these things that are done deals and are just how things are gonna be whether you bitch or not.... Like I said I love ya, man. You're one of my favorite posters on here, but sometimes I think if you had a dog that shit gold in your yard you'd bitch that it wasn't platinum... lol.

OdinsBeard - 3/23/2010, 1:49 PM
nerosday@ you just described 90% of the fan community.

honestly, i have no idea why people wouldn't like this choice. there will never - EVER - be anything we all agree is good for a movie BEFORE it comes out. then it comes out and it's like "YAY RDJ is AMAzing! even tho i bitched for 6 months about it until i saw a trailer!"

Chris Evans = Good things.

MSJuggalo - 3/23/2010, 1:52 PM
@wildstar

I know people could care about my opinion. I'm not the one on here saying this person is good for Cap but this person isn't. You're missing my point dumb-*ss! You think your opinion has more weight to it than Brubaker's but the truth of the matter is you're sooooooooo wrong! You're gonna tell me to get lost?!?! HA HA HA! ROFLMAO! you are nobody, why would I do as you say?

Btw, your avatar explains a whole hell of a lot. We now know what you fantasize about, and it's not females

lol @ Odinsbeard:

Maybe lots of people do fancasts but I have never seen anyone spam it everywhere like LEEE does.

It could be an article about something else entirely and LEEE will show up with one his ghey looking sparkly framed photoshop jobs of one of his beloved picks for Cap

nerosday@ also add in the fact Thor will have long hair and Cap will have shorter hair. Thor possibly sporting the beard.

I am not concerned about Evans and Hemsworth looking alike in the Avengers. That doesn't even compute for me.
NERO
NERO - 3/23/2010, 2:04 PM
Evans was pretty damn good in Sunshine, Street Kings, and a couple other flicks. His main problem is he needs to fire his agent for landing him lame film roles. The guy has talent; he just picks really crappy movies to partake in, FF is a prime example, the movie was shit, the script was shit, direction shit, but he came out the best thing in it despite the films utter failings in all other areas.
Runefyst
Runefyst - 3/23/2010, 2:06 PM
I'm gonna have to agree with people here LEE, I like ya man, but there has been a lot've whining when it comes to the Cap'n.

Evans is a solid choice for Cap. Is he my number 1 choice? Nah, and I'd say he's not a lot've people's number 1. But he's a helluva lot better than the parade of people they were looking at for that role and if you can't see past that or the fact that he played Torch in a franchise that's getting rebooted (I had a problem at first too, but I got over it, especially since it's being rebooted), then ya need to open your eyes man.

Once again, Evans is a solid actor, the one I'd pay more attention to to see if he does a good job with this movie is Johnson.

I totally agree with everything Brubaker ( and some of our more rational and sane members of CBM ) said. Give the guy a shot. He's a pretty good actor. This whole thing about actors portraying more than one cbm role arguement is just plain moronic. If the movie comes out and you hate it, bitch away, but until you at least see a trailer, you're literally bitching about nothing.
