Filming for Marvel's much anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger has been taking place a little over a month now in London. And while a few set images & footage have already emerged online, today background extras were spotted at Trafalgar Square.

Apparently the extras were dressed in period clothing as the scene filmed was set on May 8th, 1945 in London, England. Which is Victory in Europe Day, the day when the WWII Allies formally accepted the surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany, which basically was the end of the war. Click the image below to get the full resolution.

In other news, Steve Rogers himself (Chris Evans) was spotted clubbing in London last night, which you can check out numerous images HERE. And starring alongside Evans, Hugo Weaving (Red Skull), Tommy Lee Jones (Gen. Chester Philips), Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Stanley Tucci (Abraham Erskine), Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Toby Jones (Arnim Zola), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), Neal McDonough (Dum Dum Dugan), and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), in Joe Johnston direction.

And Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters July 22, next year in 3D!

Great find DCMF! :) That all looks very authentic and realistic - I'm guessing this will be one of the final scenes of the movie...which I guess is pretty obvious, lol!

Good point LEE! They probably filmed this about 4/5am before the rush hour and tourists started hovering around! Good to see them focusing on the UK a fair bit in this movie as well...I know it's Captain America but it would have been ridiculous if that was where the majority of the movie was set IMO.

Wow, that looks excellent. Even without the cinema magic, this has that 40's feel. Reminds me of Rocketeer, which makes me happy. : ) Also, the prominence of Union Jack the flag makes me want to see the character in this film. Last, I'm really really happy that this is not an article about First Class.

@deadpoox- First, there is wash out dye. Second, in those pics, he's wearing the same clothes that he wore at Comic-Con. That makes me doubt the validity of the clubbing pics. Unless he's really attached to that one shirt or packs very lightly, I'd be willing to bet those might be shots of him in San Diego.
