Check out these nice logos for Marvel's upcoming Captain America movie, I did.

Out of all the films Marvel Studios have on their upcoming slate, Captain America: The First Avenger, has been my hardest task of creating a logo for. Or at least creating a logo that satisfies me. Anyway, I just finished one which I think is my forth or fifth attempt.

Looks good, I like the dirty feel but I would back off on the drop shadow, it's just making the text look fuzzy hard to read. Also careful with the embossing filter, little goes a long way, because that's also hurting the legibility of the logo. Otherwise I think it's a good start, but keep working on it.

Another advice would be to try to use a font that you wouldn't automatically associate. Like the stencil/gun metal font you're using is a given. I'd venture out and play with other ones too. If you want any free fonts or don't mind purchasing my friend's site BlamBot.com makes fonts for Marvel, DC and other well known comic companies. Check it out for some quality free work.

@LEEE777 I'm not a comic reader for Marvel or DC. I'm just a fan of how the movies come out. The films make me go to the comics. I kinda want to change my name back too...should I?

@Stumblin Thanks for the awesome advice. To tell you the truth, I'm still experimenting with photoshop. I try some new things and I stick with some things I'm familiar with.

On the font, I didn't want a comical type font, because I was mimicking the logos Marvel already have for Iron Man & Hulk.

Nah @ FRESHMAN, don't its pretty cool, though its up to you!!

Seriously, you don't read the comics?! Why not man, the comic stories are normally so much better than HOLLYWOOD's take, i.e. ORIGINS! : P

But cool if its getting ya into the comics that way, at least you see 'em, thats the main thing!

Anytime man! Doing this kind of stuff is incredibly difficult and takes a lot of time, effort and learning to be able to do it well. You're off to a great start, I get what you mean by the font, what I meant by trying others, I don't mean grabbing the Jokerman font, but you'd be surprised by getting the same look but without using, not to be taken personal but a typical font for a soldier-esque movie. Like Helvetica or Interstate fonts, one's that are solid and strong much like Cap himself but with your filters you can still give off that military feel.

Just a thought, but keep up the good work! You can't learn anything new if everyone just says it's perfect. Please don't mistake my criticism as bashing, I just feel I should reiterate that for other people because I think you get the idea.

Not really unfortunately, I only have two blogs one for my traditional art and the other for my inking portfolio. I kind of just fell into graphic design, but I'll see about making a quick account on Photobucket and put some of the stuff I do at work. It's all mostly beer related because I work for a beer distributor but I also have some freelance stuff I've done.
