As we are all aware, it has been ages since the one and only Steve Rogers has been the man behind the Captain America mask. He was considered dead for over a year and once revived, was content to let his good friend (recently discovered still alive) Bucky Barnes carry the mantle of Captain America while he ran things as the head of SHIELD.
It has seemed a little strange (to me at least) that with
Captain America:The First Avenger due to hit theaters this summer, Marvel would be content with another man behind the Captain America mask. Well, a few days ago I ran across the following bit of information at
(((BleedingCool))).
In July, Captain America will relaunch with a new number one, a new cover by Travis Charest, the same writer Ed Brubaker
And, yes yes yes, it looks like Steve Rogers is back in the uniform.
I hesitated to post this info because there seemed to be no source or reason for the proclamation. However, earlier today I read the following solicitation for June's
Captain America #619 at
(((CBR))) and IMO, the synopsis would seem to fit nicely with the news reported by Bleeding Cool.
From CBR...CAPTAIN AMERICA #619
The events of Fear Itself collide as our two stories reach their stunning conclusion. From his cold Russian prison cell, Bucky makes a decision that will change his life forever. And in the Steve Rogers: Super-Soldier back-up, the first repercussions of Bucky's actions may destroy everything Steve has worked so hard for. It's the stunning conclusion you won't believe!
What do you think? Does it look like Marvel is placing Rogers back behind the mask to coincide with the release of
Captain America:The First Avenger or am I reaching here? It certainly seems like a move that would not only make sense to many but has also been expected for quite some time.
