A QUIET PLACE Star Emily Blunt Says She Was Never Actually In The Running To Play CAPTAIN MARVEL
Before Brie Larson landed the role of Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, rumors had circulated that Emily Blunt was a front-runner for the part - however, the actress has now set the record straight...
Before Marvel Studios even announced that a Captain Marvel movie was in the works Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) was a fan-favorite choice to play Carol Danvers, so when reports indicated that she was one of the front-runners to suit-up as the space-faring hero, the internet was a very happy place indeed.
Of course, Brie Larson ultimately wound up nabbing the role - but even if she hadn't, it doesn't sound like Blunt was ever in the running.
While chatting to Screen Crush about her new film A Quiet Place, Blunt was asked how close she came to landing the part, and responded: "Oh, no, nobody ever called me about it. [Laughs] It was all untrue!"
Ah well, there are still plenty of other great superheroes out there... right?
"I mean, I think Mary Poppins is a superhero, so I’ll just say that she’s my superhero. Yeah, I think I’ve fulfilled that. I’ll say it’s her. Listen, she can fly, she has superpowers, she’s magical. I’ll just go with Mary Poppins."
We may have to settle for Emily taking to the skies as a magical British nanny!
