CAPTAIN MARVEL: Intriguing New Details On Lashana Lynch’s Mysterious Role Have Emerged
We recently found out that DeWanda Wise had dropped out of Captain Marvel only to be replaced by Lashana Lynch (Power Room, Brotherhood), and now some very interesting details on the character she'll play.
When DeWanda Wise - who was not the studio's first choice for the part, incidentally - was cast in Captain Marvel, many fans speculated that she might be playing Monica Rambeau, and that still seems to be the general assumption now that Lashana Lynch has taken over.
Now, That Hashtag Show has come across some details on this mysterious character which might go some way towards backing this theory up - although if Lynch is playing Rambeau, it sounds like they'll be taking a few liberties with her comic book counterpart.
"We are told that Wise was set to play the mother of a young child who would be a “contemporary” of Carol Danvers. As for what role it might be, all we can offer is a bit of speculation: the actress who originally passed on the role is a dead ringer for one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe and a one-time holder of the Captain Marvel legacy title herself: Monica Rambeau."
THS clarify that they were not told that the character is Rambeau, and are just speculating based on how much of an "uncanny resemblance" the first actress that passed on the role bears to the Marvel hero.
What do you guys make of this? Is it enough for you to feel confident that Lynch is playing Monica, or do you think it'll be someone else entirely? Who do you think that first actress that passed might be?
