CAPTAIN MARVEL Is Strong Enough To Move Planets According To Brie Larson

We've heard numerous times that Captain Marvel will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most powerful superhero and now comments from Brie Larson point to her exceeding expectations in a lot of ways...

It's clear that Captain Marvel is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige has said on a number of occasions that not only are her powers off the charts but she'll be the strongest character we've seen in this world (making her stronger than both The Hulk and Thor). However, it seems we may have underestimated just how formidable she will really be.

In the video below, Larson says this about Carol Danvers' power set. "She's so strong," the actress teased. "She can move planets! So, to me, it's like how far can I go with this strength?"

Move planets? Larson could be exaggerating but it's clear that Captain Marvel's powers really will be like nothing we've ever seen before and that makes sense, especially as the same can be said for her comic book counterpart. This also means that the hero will play a huge role in turning the tide against Thanos as it's already been confirmed that she'll have a key role to play in Avengers 4 next year.

HOLY SHIT! Really tho?

Oh some people are not gonna be happy about this.

@BlindWedjat - I'm not happy. Too OP for MCU IMO, but maybe they are going for even stronger villains in the future. Still I think that Thanos should be strongest "normal" villain.

@Poochie - I agree, that’s Superman level of ridiculous. He was so overpowered they had to create Kryptonite as a storytelling mechanism so there would be a challenge. Hope she’s exagerating, not happy with that.

RegularPoochie - 6/15/2018, 4:30 AM
@MrMasculinity - Exactly, to me it seems like she is so powerful that Infinity Stones can't even kill her and that's some BS.

@BlindWedjat - ...she better hope she moves those box office tickets first...

@BlindWedjat - As long as she doesn't spin the globe to time travel, the MCU should be safe. But this can also be the safest way to reboot. Lol Henry Cavil needs this power for the DCEU.

SuperSomething616 - 6/15/2018, 5:25 AM
@MrMasculinity - Zoe Saldana said in an interview for GoTG vol 1 that the Guardians could defeat the Avengers, that they could fly and were silly strong...

Obviously actors sometimes dont fully understand a characters full power set so yeah like you said Brie is probably exaggerating to ham her character up!

@mastakilla39 - Henry should do what Deadpool did...go back in time and shoot himself in the head while reading BvS script!!!

@BlindWedjat - What are her chances of surviving A4 if she is this overpowered? I would think it would be very difficult for her to have sequels at these levels. She's basically Superman at full potential

@BlindWedjat -

It's effectively giving the powers of someone with four Infinity Stones to a single character.

Thanos with four Infinity Stones struggled to break pieces of a moon away from it's surface in order to throw it at the Avengers.

Captain Marvel meanwhile is going to be able to move planets - regardless of whether this is a 'binary form' or not.

The Infinity Stones are meant to be the most powerful things in the multiverse, yet Captain Marvel already is stronger than four of them combined. It's surpassing 'One-Punch Man' levels and that was designed as a parody of invincible superheroes who are never at threat.

"What are her chances of surviving A4 if she is this overpowered?"

In terms of the political and social climate of IRL - if Marvel introduced a female superhero, gave them a movie and then permanently killed them off in Avengers 4 then they would face a massive backlash.

Only option i can see them doing is have her be trapped in another dimension/reality/universe from which she cannot return - and then have stories set in that dimension/reality/universe in order to avoid effecting the main plot. Maybe bringing her back for a bigger crossover storyline when the entire multi-verse is at threat or something - but even then she makes most the characters pointless.

@Poochie - well, Thor is really OP but he doesn't even know it, the dwarf said the neutron star would kill him but it did not, and Odin said he was more powerful than Odin himself he just needed help in channeling his energy. It may be that Carol is also super OP but that she can only channel it when needed and even then there can be limitations or stuff she is subjected to that will make her lose faith in using it. Tony's armor was taking the power of the stones on Titan as well. That's pretty OP. StarLord could handle a stone directly. Jane Foster was subjected to one... even with Thanos glove, the stones survived the snap but the glove no so much. It is possible the stones are more powerful than there is someone to wield them available and therefore their relative strength to a hero is moot since the hero or the stone may never be shown at full force against each other. In the end, if they want to put storytelling limitations on either i am all for it as it makes the movie better than just a bunch of video game level OP people going at it.

@Scarilian - "Captain Marvel meanwhile is going to be able to move planets - regardless of whether this is a 'binary form' or not."
though she can do it, we don't know actually how "easy" it is for her and how much it can drain her... not unlike the glove being half destroyed after the snap.
RegularPoochie
RegularPoochie - 6/15/2018, 1:51 PM
@JonC - Thor was only more powerful in IW because Russos knew how strong he really is and should be. All other directors have nerfed him down. He still isn't planet pulling strong and Carol is if she meant that literally and that's some BS IMO.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 6/15/2018, 2:56 PM
@JonC -
True, i suppose. Just kind of destroys the level of power scale though if she can do it at all.

At the moment the villains are an unknown Skrull (Probably a Super Skrull), Ronan and Korath against two versions of Captain Marvel - both of whom presumably have similar power levels.

I just dont see how the villains are going to be intimidating when the hero is much more powerful than them and they have two heroes with that level of power.

@BlindWedjat - I’m not happy either. Seriously, moving planets is for the villain, how are Wes supposed to connect with a hero who can do that? All my life I thought “hey, I can be one of the top 10 billionaires that develops tech that is superhuman and be like a regular dude, like I am, right?” Now this chick comes around and does stuff unrealistic? BS.

Lol.

But seriously, I’m afraid it will make her hard to connect with, she should just be able to move comets if Thanos can move moons.

@WakandaManAreU - there are female characters from Marvel that have been shown to be this strong in the comics. Captain Marvel just isnt one of them. Maybe I am a nerd but I like how so far the MCU has been keeping power levels mostly inline with the comics.
Nebula

@WakandaManAreU - Umm
Nebula
Nebula - 6/15/2018, 3:29 AM
And the MCU's got a [frick]-ton of physically strong female characters as it is. Everyone's been on board with them entirely - why would this change that?
WakandaManAreU
WakandaManAreU - 6/15/2018, 3:41 AM
@Nebula - Because this feat would make her stronger than all her male counterparts. Nerds dont know how to handle that at all. All they'll do is chalk her up as a mary sue. Wash, rinse, repeat. Its like clockwork with every movie.
Nebula
Nebula - 6/15/2018, 3:47 AM
@WakandaManAreU - "Nerds" have an issue if anyone is inexplicably powerful - therefore a Mary Sure.

The MCU isn't guilty of that, and therefore I'm sure won't be with Cpt Marvel. If the movie's good and the character's good, everybody's happy.

Nerd is not a synonym for sexist bigot.
WakandaManAreU
WakandaManAreU - 6/15/2018, 3:58 AM
@Nebula - No one said it was but if you wanna pretend like the sexist bigots dont exist in the nerd community you're just sticking your head in the sand. Nerds have turned into annoying bullies ever since nerd culture went mainstream. If you dont see yourself as one of these people then I'm not talking to you but dont pop up trying to rationalize, defend, or ignore this type of dickhead behavior.
sikwon
sikwon - 6/15/2018, 4:05 AM
@WakandaManAreU - I agree about your sexist bigots comment but thats not my issue. At this moment in the MCU Thor is a Skyfather. Thats next level universal type strength in the comics. Carol is simply not King Thor strong. Im picky though (even in comics) about characters being significantly stronger than Thor.
Nebula
Nebula - 6/15/2018, 4:07 AM
@WakandaManAreU - I'm not pretending sexist bigots don't exist in the nerd community. I haven't mentioned any kind of defence for anybody like that.

But as you said, there are sexist bigots in the nerds community.

By saying that the entirety of nerd culture is sexist is disingenuous, and you know it.
Speaking of being disingenuous, attempting to spin anything I've said into 'defence of sexist bigotry' is.

Ah you see, that's a common defense mechanism!
Because, you know what they say, "the best defense is a good offense" :P
Once they realize that something they like is subject to some criticism, they quickly start covering all their bases by throwing labels left and right and twist other people's words.
A common strategy used by keyboard warriors on the internet, be careful my friend! :P

You realise I have this thing on the side of my screen which allows me to go back through the conversation, right?

"I didn't say 'sexist dudes'"
Dude-bro: Dudebro (also dude bro, or dude-bro) denotes a white cishet man, usually in his late teens to mid twenties, who is characterized by casual misogyny, e.g., objectifying women.
