CAPTAIN MARVEL: Kevin Feige Explains Why The Kree/Skrull War Is Finally Coming To The MCU

One of the most exciting pieces of news to come out of last night's Marvel Studios panel is the fact Captain Marvel will have a 90s period setting and finally bring the Skrulls into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's not all, though, as this movie is going to also adapt the beloved Kree/Skrull War

What role Nick Fury and Carol Danvers will play in that remains to be seen but it's clear the latter is going to be heading into outer space and getting caught right in the middle of this alien conflict.

In the video below, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige talks about his excitement to bring this storyline to the big screen and sheds some light on why Captain Marvel is the right place to do that.

It also sounds like the movie will provide some insight into why Captain Marvel has been missing for years as we've obviously not seen her appear in any previous Marvel movies and have no idea whether or not she's going to factor into Avengers: Infinity War or the currently untitled fourth instalment.

Check out the interview and then let us know your thoughts on Captain Marvel in the usual place.

@Ramiel - That would be disappointing: to have been following the Avengers and GOTG for 10 years, only to have some new person come out to beat the big bad.

I'm curious as to whether (spoiler)

that other character from INFINITY GAUNTLET will go nuts and wield the power. How cool would it be if everyone had to go against him/her?

@NoAssemblyReqd - You mean Nebula? I have a feeling Loki will be the one to take the gauntlet.

by going full cosmic and making her stay in space, they resolve the problem of explaining where has she been.
hell, maybe the movie starts as in "Invasion of the body snatchers" sort of thing, with skrulls replacing memebers within the military or SHIELD, they get found out, something happens and Carol gains her powers, and she goes to space to prevent them from invading, but gets caught up in the middle of the kree/skrull conflict.

@Spidey91 - Even more interesting, by making it in the 90's, they 100% just opened up the fact that some of the PRESENT DAY AVENGERS, could be SKRULLS.

@Spidey91 - memebers

I'm guessing she will be caught somewhere that prevents her from aging, since IW2 takes place 20 years after CM and she'd still look the same. Maybe she's caught by the brood and is experimented upon, unlocking her Binary form just in time to fight Thanos.

I hope this doesn't lead to a secret invasion film. It will just feel like another civil war film with heroes fighting "heroes".

@StormXmen123 - Except the heroes weren't fighting heroes. They were fighting alien bad guys. So not the same thing.
