In recent years, Ben Mendelsohn has been Hollywood's go-to choice for villainous roles but what sets him apart from a lot of other typecast actors is the fact he's just so damn good at it. We don't know who exactly he'll be playing in Captain Marvel but it has been noted that it's a bad guy and so it's safe to assume he'll be the leader of either the Skrulls or Kree when the two alien races go to war.

In a new interview, Mendelsohn played coy about what we should expect from him in the highly anticipated Marvel movie but had plenty to say about why Brie Larson is the perfect Captain Marvel.

"Brie is absolutely perfect for that role. Why? Because she’s a strong, yet sensitive, contemporary female," the Australian actor said. "She is a champion, she’s a fantastic actress and she’s a great human. So you can’t ask for better for Captain Marvel." That's one heck of an endorsement and will get comic book fans even more excited about what to expect from Larson's take on Carol Danvers.

So she is Marvels, Green Lantern

Power given to her by an alien :)

I just hope they stick to the comics.

"After a battle in the mystical "Dark Dimension"; an encounter with the Hulk and an adventure on an alien world, Captain Marvel discovers that HIS past exposure to the "Compound 13" nerve gas gave him cancer that kills him."

Making her stronger then Thor and Hulk isn't right even in Marvels own data base.

@DoubleD - I don't really see why this is something to complain about. I get giving Thor and Hulk the short end but the MCU does not and does not HAVE TO follow the comic exactly.

Comic Captain America is nowhere near as strong as his MCU counterpart. Shuri isn't a mega genius in the comics (nor is she as young). Nakia and Okoye were both teenagers and the former became obsessive and evil. They have always made changes to fit what they wanted to do with the MCU, and frankly I'd argue these aforementioned changes were for the better. Cap SHOULD have superhuman strength in my opinion, and the MCU versions of Shuri, Nakia and Okoye are better characters than the ones from the comics.

Think of the MCU as another universe with the larger Marvel Universe. There are different universes within that have changes, yes?

@BlindWedjat - But that's why Man of Steel failed and Wonder Woman succeeded. They got his powers right but no one recognized him with all his social and personal issues.

Everyone walked out thinking that's not Superman

@DoubleD - @DoubleD - I believe as long as you keep the core themes of the main character correct, you can adjust the side characters appropriately to best fit the story you're trying to tell.

To be fair MCU Thor is pretty beast. He's defeated the Destroyer, He tanked several Chatauri Behemoths with his lightning, fought an infinity stoned powered Malekith, and his lightning form was dope.

As for Carol's powers, i think in Binary mode she rivals Thor in the comics. So if they do it that way, Carol needs to gather energy like a spirit bomb, and isn't walways that strong. But let's be honest, the comics have always been WILDLY inconsistent with how strong certain characters are. Like Thor has defeated countless cosmic characters, but then went and got beat by the wrecking crew. If Thor was consistently at comicbook level strength we'd have a Justice League situation where you wonder what's the point when Superman could've solo'd Stephenwolf alone
