Captain Marvel reveals how Nick Fury gets his hands on the pager we saw him use at the end of Avengers: Infinity War but ever since the latter was released, fans have had one big question on their minds: why didn't he use it sooner? After all, surely Ultron attempting to wipe out billions was a good enough reason to ask for her help?
The prevailing theory in those instances is that Fury had faith in The Avengers or knew she was too far away to get there in time but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has now elaborated on why he believes it took the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director this long.
"Well, I’d say two things," the mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe explains. "One, she does say it’s gotta be a real emergency, right? The other thing I’d say is how do you know he never hit it? How do we know he never pushed it before? We’ve never seen him push it before. That doesn’t mean he never did."
It's interesting to think that Fury may have tried to reach out to her in the past and as explanations for a retcon/apparent plot hole go, I think this is probably going to have to do for the time being!
