We finally know who will stand behind the camera of the upcoming Carol Danvers' debut. Marvel decided to collaborate with Ben Davis, who worked as the director of photography on Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Doctor Strange. This year, he was responsible for shooting Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri which gave him the win at Camerimage 2017.
The cinematographer is the latest addition to the Captain Marvel cast and crew, joining the director duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind, Sugar), production designer Andy Nicholson (Assassin’s Creed, Gravity), VFX supervisor Christopher Townsend (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Iron Man 3), costume designer Sanja Milkovic Hays (Star Trek Beyond, Blade) screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Rider), Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island, Room), Jude Law (Hugo, Sherlock Holmes), Ben Mendelsohn (Ready Player One, Robin Hood) and Samuel L. Jackson (The Hitman's Bodyguard, S.W.A.T.) returning as Nick Fury.
Davis is currently finishing up work on Tim Burton's Dumbo reboot before shooting Captain Marvel, beginning this January. Both films will hit theaters in 2019 with Captain Marvel opening on International Women's Day, March 6, 2019.
