CAPTAIN MARVEL Magazine Cover And Stills Offer An Amazing New Look At The Skrulls And Starforce

Captain Marvel is going to rocket into theaters shortly and this month's issue of Empire sees the hero take centre stage on the cover.

With that
comes some brand new official images and, as you can see, we have a fresh look at both the members of Starforce and the shape-shifting Skrulls. There's been some concern among fans about the latter but they look fantastic here and it seems that what EW shared last year may have been an unfinished look at the alien villains.

"They were asking me to do some stuff with this Skrull guy that was going to be fun and interesting," Ben Mendelsohn tells the magazine in regards to playing Skrull leader Talos. "It’s different, but it’s the same. It’s just an actor and a camera."

Strangely, a lot of fans seem to be quite negative when it comes to Captain Marvel despite the fact it's a Marvel Studios movie. Unfortunately, looking at social media, it seems as if the blame can be laid on the fact the movie has a female lead, and we saw a similar amount of negativity surrounding Black Panther this time last year as well.

What do you think about this latest look at the Skrulls? Share your thoughts on that below.

@OmegaDaGrodd - I'd watch an entire series of star force based on this art alone

@danield222 - Ah, good catch! As with all things, DCAU is the best template

@OmegaDaGrodd - Yeah, easy to catch as it's in my childhood room :) It was one of the first pictures I printed out like 16 years ago.

I wish the Skrulls had more detailed purple designs on their heads. I think that's the one thing making them look a bit generic. If they had those iconic purple hairlines and widow's peaks they'd look much better. Their costumes could be a little better too. Something tells me they couldn't pull off what was shown in concept art due to budget.

The Kree and Star Force on the other hand, look spectacular. Really loving those costumes on them.

By no means is this bad make up/CGI (seems like it's mostly make up). It's just when you see this it doesn't scream the Skrull designs we know. Rather it looks like any alien design out of Star Trek. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's not distinct.

But I'm excited for them anyway.

I am definitely getting more on board with their design

I think the Skrulls look badass! I don't see why some people have an issue with their design, seems mostly like nitpicks.
Vigor

@kaethar - probably because it doesn't align with their original design
kaethar

@Vigor - Looks pretty similar to me. In the previous photos they were lighter but now that they're not in daylight they look the same shade of green as the concept art. Any smaller changes (their eyes being a different colour), is prob just the result of what looked better in live action. As for the head-piece we don't know whether that'll appear in the movie yet.
Vigor
Vigor - 1/21/2019, 6:41 AM
@kaethar - yeah I'm talking entirely about the head piece. It's the one thing that makes the stark difference.

Whatever they mess up with here, I'm confident the Russos will 'fix' when they depict the skrulls (if they appear in end game)

@Vigor - I think the skrulls look nearly perfect, all it needs is the head piece.

Really? I haven't really seen this. If anything, social media and general public seem more excited about this than I would have initially thought.
