Captain Marvel had two post-credits scenes and while one was played for laughs, the other featured some footage shot by the Russos for
Avengers: Endgame in which Carol Danvers finally returns to Earth and meets the heroes who have been protecting the planet in her absence.
Now, that has been officially released by Marvel Studios to bring us right up to speed in time for the highly anticipated superhero ensemble this week. In fact, if you head over to the
@MarvelStudios Twitter account, they've actually shared every single one of them (well, the main ones anyway). It's an interesting move, and one which is bound to get fans even more excited.
As for this scene, we now have a much better look at Captain Marvel's new suit and some of the aftermath of Thanos' horrifying attack, not just on Earth, but the entire universe.
How this sequence will fit into
Avengers: Endgame obviously remains to be seen, but there will no doubt be more to Carol's return home than just this - especially as she'll have to get Earth's Mightiest Heroes clued in on where exactly she's been all this time.

No Secret Invasion?
I think it's fair to say that we went into Captain Marvel expecting the stage to be set for a big screen adaptation of Secret Invasion. However, Talos and the rest of the Skrulls are portrayed in a sympathetic light and the movie does not wrap up with them infiltrating our planet. Does this mean Marvel Studios plans to portray them as the good guys moving forward?
Not necessarily.
Talos makes it clear that there are a lot of Skrulls scattered throughout the universe, and it's entirely feasible that at least one of them would like to make our planet home. If nothing else, at least this movie introduces us to the concept of the shapeshifters!
