As most of us know, the character of Felicity Smoak initially introduced the step-mother of Ronnie Raymond (Firestorm). But she was given a revamp and included into the hit tv show Arrow. Following the characters initial success, she went on to becoming a series regular and is now a fan favorite of the show.

In a recent interview following the anno
uncement of Kreisberg taking over the writing duties of the ongoing New 52 Green Arrow series, he also went on to confirm that the character of Felicty Smoak will make her New 52 debut in the series as well

“When the opening came up it just felt like it was a real opportunity to merge the two worlds, the comic book and the TV show,” Kreisberg told the News. “To maybe bring a few fans of the show who don’t read the comics to the comics and fans of the comics who don’t watch the show to the television.”

The dynamic duo will take over scripting duties on DC Comics’ “Green Arrow” with October’s issue #35.

He adds that several fan favorite characters from “Arrow” will make their way into the pages of “Green Arrow” -- including Felicity Smoak, the titular hero’s computer hacking helper.

Actress Emily Bett Rickards “was over the moon” when she found out that she was going to be included in the comic book.

Awesome, another DC character from a show that will be included on the comics :]

As long as they handle her better than in the show... she went from awkwardly cute in season 1 to annoying in season. Just because a character works doesn't mean you have to see more of him/her. It was her little and rare appearances that made her cool.

Its nice to see good OC characters and aspects in other media be taken into the comics. That's pretty much how we got Superman how he is today

this is the perfect opportunity to post random pics of Emily Bett Richards, do it!

Felicity Smoak is already a comic book character. She's the step mother of Ronnie Raymond aka Firestorm.

Please, please do not warp characters like Vertigo, Bronze Tiger, Deadshot, etc. into your twisted little things so it is essentially an extension of the TV show's Universe. DC, you aren't suppose to be filthy little whores like Marvel! You are not a whore! Bad DC, bad! *smacks DC on the head with a broom*

I very much liked her in the show.It's a lot like harley quinn coming from BTAS they are putting in a fan favorite. I can respect it, unlike marevel who has been incorporating a bunch of random crap from the movies and the t.v. show that no one gives to craps about.

@Klone Have you seen New 52 Richard Dragon? The butchered him badly.

@Snapper

Haven't kept up with it much. I'm simply against the very prospect of them taking the comics and basically turning it into an Arrow comic tie, right down to the costume, etc :P That's Marvel's job.

@Klone
How is including one character from the series making it a tv series tie-in?

@Dude

I said, or meant, that I am against the very idea or possibly of them forcing it into a TV tie in. I'm cool with Felicity in the comics as I like the character, but my comment was like "they better not twist Vertigo (e.g. making him an annoying drug dealer instead of a powerful foreign aristocrat)" and other characters (along with adding in shit nobody likes like Thea and butchering ones like Shado), because that would essentially be twisting GA to be a clone of the tv series.

I take it Sara Lance will become a real comic book character. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out Thea will be joining the comics too.

As long as they integrate her like they did Diggle, I'll be fine.
Then again, that was Lemire, this'll be Kreisberg.

This is awesome! I'm really excited. EBR portrays Felicity Smoak amazingly it's fantastic her different take on the role will be in the comics.

See, Klone is being equitable. A lot of people raised hell when Marvel did things like this, and talked all kinds of shit about it. Now, they're completely fine with it, when it happens with Arrow. Klone, on the other hand, hated it when Marvel did it and he seems to be equally appalled with Arrow doing it. So you may disagree with him, but you can't call him a hypocrite or biased (unlike some others on this site).

@loki668

Smoak wasn't create for the show tho. She already existed in the comics. They're merely re-introducing her now.

Also, there's nothing wrong with changing the comics to match the (way) more popular movies/cartoons/tv shows.

Only moronic fanboys with a weirdly misguided sense of entitlement would not see it.

Guessed that would happen, happened with Smallville too!
TheFox
TheFox - 7/6/2014, 12:48 PM
Well, yes, the character existed in comics prior to the television show-- but it's still a big deal that this nobody character from Firestorm's Post-Crisis continuity is getting a high-profile reintroduction in the New 52, specifically due to her popularity as a character on a television show.

Hell, the Felicity from the show is basically a completely different character from the one in Firestorm, so the fact that there already was a Felicity Smoak in the comics is more of a technicality than anything.

Cool. Good to see the revamped version in the comics. Not too many are familiar wit hthe comic version and an EBR version of her would be awesome. Hope Diggle gets in there too.

"Only moronic fanboys with a weirdly misguided sense of entitlement would not see it."

Am sorry for caring, loving Green Arrow soo much that stupid things like this bother me. Why would I want Bat-arrow stuff from that corny, cheesy, and awful show put into the Green Arrow mythos. They already screwed up Black Canary, Mia Dearden(Thea, and stupid), Roy Harper, Oliver's parents, Oliver's fortune, Count Vertigo, Green Arrow etc.

"I take it Sara Lance will become a real comic book character. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out Thea will be joining the comics too."

No thank you, that sounds awful. Oliver never had siblings the fact that Lemire gave her one is still something that bothers me but not much I can do about it. Dianah Lance is Black Canary and the love of his life, no Sara Lance ok.

It really didn't not much of what happened in Smallville was added to the comics, I honestly can't think of oen thing that Smallville added.
