They should make it clear that they're talking about comics. But I guess its a good way to get people in to comic shops generally and local business as a whole.

It will be the biggest retcon to be retconned in a couple of years!

They should have done this ten years ago. This is exciting!

They could end up saving the industry!

wow, this new 52 is just reeking of desperation. "BUY THIS BUY THIS BUY THIS!! NOW!!!!!!"
has the WB told DC that sales MUST go up by X-amount before December or all books without the word "Bat" in the title are cancelled? I am starting to think that's more real and less of a joke.
eesh, I am very morbidly curious what becomes of DC in 2012. (I don't see 52 #1's working)....going all digital? maybe...

@Shaman it is just a generic poster :P You cant really expect much unless they get Jim Lee to personally pimp slap everyone in to buying it

They should have been doing this for longer than a month though. Like two months. They should also continue with different ads after September thirtieth.

I think DC is trying to reach everyone by advertising their business. Good for them trying a different way of selling comics.

@write33 I hardly think advertising to get more readership is desperation. The whole industry needs more readers as it is.

@write33: Advertising does not equal desperation. Advertising equals good business skills.

This is awesome.

I might not 100% agree with the retcon, but comic book ads in a movie theater is great. I hope it's a trend that sticks.

@golden123 advertising isn't desperate but continually retconning is. it also shows poor writing skills. when a company can't continually and seamlessly update their characters to keep them interesting they must be lousy add afflicted writers. it shuns away many old fans because the history that they grew up with is suddenly gone. its bad business.

darkknightlegend- I know but i would have prefered a stand alone poster. Not just the JL cover on a black background. That poster's [frick]ing lame considering it's purpose is to advertise something so earth shattering.

@Shaman yeah i totally agree. Its been over-used. They should have made the effort to actually make it seem like some thing epic :P

If DC wants money, all they need to do is quit publishing on paper, put it all for free online and charge up the wazoo for adds on their site. They're hemoraging money at the moment.

Agree, this poster is too ROB LIEFELD like for someone like Jim Lee, i expected a little better, something like "Hush"

Trailers for comic books? If it's not done with motion comics, it's lame.

It's not a great ad. Non-comic book fans aren't going to know what this really is based on that 30 second ad.

I can't wait for this. Issue one of Justice League is hitting the same day as the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album "I'm with you." Then when September hits I'll be trying 22 more of these new comics.
