Once again bleedingcool.com has more details of DC Comics rumored prequels to Alan Moore's classic comic book series. As a reminder yesterday they reported that artist Andy Kubert would be drawing one of the four mini-series, but today we have new specific details.

Bleeding Cool says that not only is Andy Kubert going to be working on one of the prequels, but so is his father, Joe Kubert. Andy's father is the founder of The Kubert School a prestigious school for comic book artists located in New Jersey. Joe is best known for his work on DC Comics Sgt. Rock & Hawkman.

The father and son team will supposedly will be working on a Nite Owl mini-series. This prequel is expected to involve the original Nite Owl and his replacement.

A source has informed Bleeding Cool that Darwyn Cooke will be handling the writing duties on the Comedian series. Darwyn is an Eisner Award winner, best known for his work on The Spirit and Richard Stark's Parker: The Hunter.

And what about the legendary Dave Gibbons' the artist, and co-creator of Watchmen? Well Bleeding Cool has also learned that he will won't be an active participant for these four projects. The source has informed the site that he'll be passive "for this wave," indicating that that there could be more to come.

IF they did this it would have to be on HBO or SHOWTIME. and yes nite owl would suck, he would look and seem to much like batman.

Rorschach makes more sense as a tv series.

I just think unless Alan Moore is the one writing anything to do with Watchmen that it should be left a classic.

I dont get it, its moore's creation if he doesnt want the story continued or with an added back strory u gots to respect it. If they do it right tho, i might read the comics they make.

If it's done well yeah I agree EasterBunnyKiller. I'll give it a try. The only difference is if they don't put much effort into it and F*** it up...the consequences will be 10x as bad as a normal book. Good luck to them!

Nite Owl and Comedian are my favorites from Watchmen.

I hope it's done well. I'm going to actually wait and see how this turns out before bashing it.

Oh no, that's just DC.

@Desmond, yea, I was thinking the same thing.... Pretty sure people misunderstood the "mini-series" title... We ain't talkin Roots and Lonesome Dove, folks...

Rorschach and Nite Owl would be better. Mostly Rorschach

I think this whole thing is a horrible idea. The only way a Watchmen prequel would work is if Alan Moore was writing it. Since there's a better chance of seeing Chris Nolan directing Batman: The Musical, a light-hearted take on the character featuring Batman's neon talking super street luge, I'll pass.

This is a fail. No Alan Moore no book. The original idea for The Watchman would have changed everything. They should just do Twilight of the Superheroes concept that Alan Moore came up with 15yrs ago...Oh wait Kingdumb Come was already made.

They're just trying to piss Alan off now.

It probably not have the same feel as the original given the lack of Mr Moore, but who's to say that it will be bad? Has anyone seen it? All we know is the initial ideas, even then they are rumors...its pretty hard to make a judgement against something like Watchmen (exception being the film)

Nite Owl and the Comedian will do great in mini-series, they're two sides of a coin. I understand Rorschach is more populair, but he would do be better solo.

ironpool007

I'm actually quite interested in seeing what they do with these characters. But iThink it would be better to just reimagine them as part of the new 52. I mean the original is great. But it can read like a convoluted messin parts of it. If these are prequels, well they could just convolute it more. Just do like DC has done with Stormwatch, John Constantine, Grifter, and Voodoo and reimagine it all.
