AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: Norman Osborn Returns This July...And He's Designed The Wall-Crawler's New Suit!

More unexpected developments are heading our way in this July's Amazing Spider-Man as Norman Osborn returns and presents the web-slinger with a new costume...and his own glider?! Check it out right here...

Next week, Marvel Comics kicks off its 60th anniversary celebrations for Spider-Man by relaunching Amazing Spider-Man with a new #1 from writer Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr. In that first issue, we'll see the makings of a bold era in the life of Peter Parker. On the outs with the FF, the Avengers, and even Aunt May, the question that will be on everyone’s mind will be: What did Spider-Man do?

We're excited to see how this story unfolds, but things will take another wild turn in July's Amazing Spider-Man #7 when Norman Osborn returns with big plans for Peter and ushers in one of the biggest Spidey status quo changes in years...courtesy of Oscorp?! Remember, Norman lost his inner evil courtesy of Kindred, so he's a reformed character, and looking to make amends with the web-slinger.

In this story, Spider-Man will be getting a new suit complete with accessories that look vaguely familiar. Scratch that, make that very familiar. Wait, is that a glider? Yeah, we're calling it the Spider-Glider!

The Green Goblin killed Gwen Stacy and has spent years making Spidey's life a living hell, but with his sins cleansed, Norman is a new man. That's clearly enough for Peter to trust him, but will he live to regret it? We can't help but think this is going to end badly for Spidey based on past experience.

Check out Romita Jr.'s covers and Patrick Gleason's design sheet below, and keep checking back here for more updates on Amazing Spider-Man as we get closer to next Wednesday's launch.

Shame on Peter if he trusts him. He deserves whatever happens to him at this point.

just no.

spiderman is just one of those characters with a perfect design, major changes like this dont work

weird Spiderman's suit has stayed the same since his introduction

even batman and superman have been altered over the years, yellow oval, style of s, underwear, collars, boots, lines, length of cape and ears and the changes stck for a long while

for spiderman,it really just goes back to how it looked in amazing fantasy, with only change being the art style

@dracula - It’s changed from black to blue, plus the web pits. Otherwise it’s the same though.

@dracula - I mean, the suit itself isn't all that different design wise. In fact this is going back to the yellow eyes he originally had.

Honestly the problem I have is him using goblin tech, but that's obviously not going to stick.

@dracula - Actually, Spider-Man (Peter Parker, not counting Reilly or Superior, etc.) has had quite a few “variant” costumes he used for periods of time before eventually going back to the traditional costume. Some last an issue or several, such as the Big Time, Parker Industries, Symbiote, Spider-Armor, etc. and this will probably be the same situation for this one.

@dracula - I've been all over the world and I've seen all kinds of crazy things...but that hair is truly unnatural.

It is grotesque, but I can not look away. Is it bryl cream? Grecian formula gone bad? Genetic joke?

I'll check it out I guess (if I hear good things about this run) but Peter trusting Norman makes about as much sense as Superman trusting Lex Luthor or even Batman trusting the Joker tbh.

Ugh. Just give us Spider-Man in his Spider-Man outfit fighting bad guys and dealing with interpersonal relationships. It's not hard.

How long will this costume stick around didn’t bother to figure out how long terrible looking Spider-Man costume with big bobbly eyes look like headlights on mask stayed for.,

This reason I never got into Spider-Man comics he’s adult think he learns from his mistakes he’s still making old ones and costume not fan of but I am interested what stupid situation his mask will be in to show stupid quotation mark on mask spider glider is worst of it hard to tell what’s more stupid spider buggy or spider glider superior Spider-Man costume looks better have better options this green goblin wearing Spider-Man suit using Weapons as Spider-Man theme marvel makes worst costumes for Spider-Man black suit was best one after that it slowly went down hill into suck vile .,

What is with marvel making Spider-Man gullible idiot Batman and Superman will never trust lex or joker unless they have no other option to do so but Spider-Man glad I never like Spider-Man comics growing up situations such as this best part on Spider-Man comics are his villains Spider-Man life choices as hero is terrible decision making throughout his life

This feels like something that either won't or at the very least, should not last long. As said Peter trusting Norman is asking for trouble. And the suit design is not very good.

This feels it will work best as a short 6-8 issue story. At least the part where Peter trusts Norman. Please don't make this a big 2 year-long story line.

This costume is being used to introduce a redesigned Green Goblin. GG new suit will be an offshoot of this along with the redesigned glider/rocket pack/ A.I lab assistant.

@WruceBayne - they’re showing you the technology and mechanics of the suit so when Norman dons his new GG suit they won’t have to tell you how it operates.
