COMICS: Rick Remender Discusses The Shocking Final Page Of CAPTAIN AMERICA #3

Peter Parker is no longer the only superhero with an unwelcome guest in his body! There was a shocking reveal on the final page of Rick Remender and John Romita Jr.'s Captain America #3 today and you can see that and comments from the writer after the jump!

Steve Rogers has been trapped in Arnim Zola's "Dimension Z" for over a year, but it looks like the worst is still to come for the patriotic superhero. On the final page of Captain America #3 today, it was revealed that Arnim Zola's consciousness has been physically grafted onto his chest. Talking to Newsarama, writer Rick Remender had this to say about the shocking development and the similarities to what is currently going on in Dan Slott's The Superior Spider-Man. Be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page in order to read the interview in full!

"It's a consciousness infection. That was the thing that Zola was plugging into Steve in issue #1, you see him take that giant needle and shove it into his chest — and this is what it was. It's a consciousness infection, because Zola wanted to take over Steve, and use him to go back to Earth and do dastardly villainous business. But then Steve escaped...

It obviously seems significant — with a supervillain implanted onto Captain America's chest and all. I wanted to make an impossible situation for Steve, one that he has no earthly reason to be able to survive and get out of. This is another stage in setting him down that road. Not only is he dealing with being stranded in this foreign environment, with the health and care of a child on his shoulders, he's now looking down the barrel at a Zola infection that will be trying to take over his mind. It serves a very different purpose than what Dan's doing in Spider-Man. Because of the differences in the execution, and the differences in what it ends up doing to Steve, and it didn't seem like a concern. It's very different."

Wow the amount of stupidity here is ridicoulous. This arc hasn't even finished yet and people who i doubt are even reading this are dissmissing it already. I doubt this is going to last past this arc and considering it's remender it will most likely turn out great. And for those who are saying marvel are putting out crap are clearly not reading any of the titles. Marvel have been putting out great stuff like

Avengers
Uncanny Avengers
All New X-Men
Thor: God Of Thunder
Indestructable Hulk
Daredevil
Daredevil: End Of Days
Ultimate Spider-Man
Scarlet Spider
Venom
Wolverine And The X-Men

To Say marvel aren't putting out anything good is just ignorant.

Have liked Cap so far in the Now! Launch, will probs stick around for a few more issues to see what happens.

It is like Superior Spider-Man, thought I would hate it, gave it a shot and now I'm interested in seeing what else happens with it.

The majority of you guy are not even reading this series. Haha, its not as serious or alike as to what slott is doing with spiderman. Steve is INFECTED, not body swapped. This is just part of the plot, just like any other comic that will be resolved. You guys need to chill.

Most of you complain, but very few will stop reading. Vote with your money! If you stop buying Marvel will have to work harder to earn your business.

I gave up on DC when the New 52 was announced and I stopped reading Marvel this summer.

I'm okay with it. And frankly I've made peace with Octo Spidey too. I liked the first two issues of Cap to be honest (I actually bought them AND read them). Remender's track record is pretty damn good, so I'll wait and see what direction this goes in. After decades and decades of stories you gotta try something new every now and again. Will it always work? Maximum Cloneage tells us no, it won't. But people speak with their dollars. And these titles are selling right now. I imagine if the internet were in full swing in the early 90's, I'm sure people would have been up in arms about the Age of Apocalypse too.

Wow, Marvels getting weird with it. I wanna see him take on Krang from TMNT.
dancingmonkey08
dancingmonkey08 - 1/16/2013, 6:58 PM
WTF? First Spidey, now Captain America

And what are they going to do, will it be the opposite to Spider-Man, the ghost of Arnim Zola will be inside Captain America attempting to influence his actions, while Steve remains the dominant personality, something like that?

And hold on didnt Steve go through this similar thing with Red Skull in Captain America Reborn....goddamn Marvel so many villains want to get inside Cap...heh heh, wheres Tea when you need him? Shine the Tea signal! lol

And listen to what DarkKnight23 & CaptainAmerica1945 said, if you dont like the comics, DONT BUY THEM! You only have yourselves to blame when Marvel makes shit comics and you go and buy them anyway. Marvel dont read comment sections.

Plus you have the right to come on here and complain about problems, once you dont buy the comic (and just download them for free, if you are that curious about it!). Thats the only way Marvel will even begin to take notice!
LAWLZY96
LAWLZY96 - 1/16/2013, 7:09 PM
this doesn't seem complaint worthy to me. it will probably be very temporary. like just for an arc or two. its not resulting in the cancellation of his book or an entirely new Captain America
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 1/16/2013, 7:55 PM
I only buy the Marvel comics I like and think are good. I don't understand why its all or nothing for some guys. Buy what's good. Don't feed money to the stuff that you think is bad. Simple enough. If you just quit a company altogether how the hell are they supposed to separate what they are doing right from what they are doing wrong?
Moakynubs
Moakynubs - 1/16/2013, 8:11 PM
We all know Cap's hair style and this is just a temporary thing, a result of being stuck in some parallel dimension or.. something.
