Bleeding Cool has posted IDW Publishing's solicitations for their January 2013 comic books, and one of the comics included is the first issue of a prequel miniseries for Paramount Pictures' Star Trek Into Darkness, J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated follow-up to his Trek reboot. Back in 2009, a miniseries that led into the first Star Trek was published, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that the sequel would get a similar series. The four issue miniseries, titled Star Trek: Countdown To Darkness, features a story by Roberto Orci (co-writer/producer of both of Abrams' movies) and Mike Johnson (who's also currently writing IDW's Star Trek ongoing series, which takes place in the Abrams movie universe), as well as art by Star Trek: Countdown artist David Messina. The countdown to the motion picture event of 2013 begins here, in this blockbuster 4-issue prequel mini-series that sets the stage for the upcoming STAR TREK film! Like the best-selling STAR TREK: COUNTDOWN in 2009, this all-new series leads directly into the next movie, with a story by STAR TREK writer/producer Roberto Orci and Mike Johnson (STAR TREK ongoing series), and drawn by the original STAR TREK: COUNTDOWN artist, David Messina! STAR TREK 2013 PREQUEL is the can’t-miss lead-in to the new adventures of the Enterprise crew!

Star Trek Into Darkness is set to hit theaters May 17th, 2013. The sequel stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Alice Eve, Simon Pegg and Anton Yelchin.

It looks like someone made a booboo on the comic's subtitle, "Darrkness."

I loved the first movie and I am really looking forward to this one but what the hell is up with the title? Star Trek Into Darkness? Of all the millions of dollars put into the movie thats the best they could come up with?

Maybe its just a trend. A lot of sequals seem to have stupid titles in them these days.

Still stoked.

I like the title personally, is there anything really wrong with it?
And loving the mistake, maybe it'll make it worth money some day haha
Has anyone read the first lot of comics for the first film? Any good?

The last Countdown series was pretty cool I thought. If it's the same team I'll definitely check this out.
