With the big event weeks away, Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios have officially announced their inevitable presence at this year's much-anticipated San Diego Comic-Con convention. Detailing when, where and which movies will be the highlight of two major panels, the press release below explains:

Marvel Studios: Saturday, July 14th 6:00pm – 7:00pm (Hall H) - Marvel Studios presents Iron Man 3. Join Producer Kevin Feige and special guests as they provide an inside look at the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures: Thursday, July 12th 2:05pm - 3:05pm (Hall H) - A Q&A panel featuring the imaginative director of Frankenweenie, Tim Burton; A special look at the world of Oz The Great and Powerful with director Sam Raimi; the illustrious voice cast of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph, including John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman and director Rich Moore.

For the Marvel Studios panel, we can expect legit details for Iron Man 3, in addition to the Captain America & Thor sequels; plus the many projects that have been rumored forthcoming. What do you think?

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

Its ok to tweet they just don't like it if you film or photograph the trailers.

Be ready for a long wait in the Hall H line since WB will have its Man of Steel panel
on Saturday as well.

@Intruder

I hope you get a chance to go.

SDCC is an insane mecca of geek culture that everybody should get to see, feel
and smell at least once in their life. I will be going again but I could only get in on Thursday for the second year in a row, so I will have to settle for for the Disney
Q&A panel.

Hard to believe how easy it used to be to get in on the choice days.

My Comic Con record

2005: Saturday walk-in,able to buy ticket same day at the Con.

2007: First year taking my sons.Bought Friday and Saturday on line, but you could still buy at the door on Friday.

2008: Took the boys again Friday and Saturday. Both days sold out about a
month ahead of the Con but Thursday and Sunday open for walk ins.

2009: Bought Friday and Saturday ahead of time on line. Both sold out a few months ahead.I think Thursday sold out just before convention and Sunday may have still been open for walk ins.

2010: Friday and Saturday tickets bought about 6 months ahead when they went on sale.No more walk ins on any day with Thursday and Sunday selling out well before convention.

2011: Waited 6 hours after online sales started and had a Saturday ticket snatched out of my cart before I could complete buy for family.Had to settle for Thursday only.

2012: Had some problems with the link in my Email, used the website to get in line
4 minutes after opening and found myself 17,000th place.Had to settle for
Thursday again.

Comic Con is such a blast and pain in the ass at the same time that I may just skip the whole thing next year and go to Wonder Con again.Went to my first one this year (Saturday and Sunday) with the kids and it was great. You could buy tickets at the door, the food was much better and no lines for the Prometheus, Abe Lincoln and Spider-Man panels if you went at the start of programing.

TheTaskmaster - 6/27/2012, 10:46 PM
@blkyank Agreed on all counts haha. This'll be my 3rd year and I've been lucky enough to score all 4 days each year. Its become a tradition with my friends and I just can't see myself not going anymore. Wondercon was a lot of fun too I only went on Saturday but getting to see the Prometheus and TAMS panels was great.
