Seven years after Daredevil hit theaters to mixed reviews, news of a relaunch has begun trickling in. In an interview with MTV News, Ben Affleck discusses why he believes the 2003 film missed the 'golden age' of super hero movies:

"Well, I think we missed a lot in that movie,” the actor revealed during the Sundance Film Festival, “before they really kind of figured out how to do [superhero movies] right."

“Now they’ve become ‘A’ movies, and they’ve been embraced in a way that they weren’t totally. Audiences have really have come out. And they demand a level of quality from them, as well they should, that is no less than the very best.”

Affleck continued, "Although [back then] they made some good ones, now they dedicate [a lot of] resources and focus to them."

Recently we've learned that a script is in the works for a new Daredevil film. Whether this movie will be a rebooted story or a continuation is yet to be disclosed. Either way, it doesn't seem that Affleck will be returning to the project.

I would definitely recommend seeing it. In my opinion though, get the directors cut of the film. It's a bit better than the original. I actually enjoyed him as Daredevil, the movie definitely had some gaps and holes, but over all I enjoyed watching it.

@boekelaar,

it was just sort of okay, back when the fake actions scenes still looked too fake and other stuff like that. it opened with a brief, terrific walk through of daredevil's origins, but the fight scenes and interpretations of standarad daredevil characters were sort of crummy. and i think most people agree that the fight scenes were substandard, especially considering that daredevil is supposed to be a master of hand to hand combat.

i tell ya, i'm upset how Affleck has reacted to the Daredevil franchise.
he grew up with Daredevil and he showed a lot of enthusiasm while filming and promoting the movie. then, in 2006, he stated that "Wearing a costume was a source of humiliation for me and something I wouldn't want to do again soon."
i liked the film but feel if that is Ben Affleck's opinon, they should reboot.
just wait long enough for the rights to return to Marvel for some decent crossover material!

@Multi: Really? I never noticed, but it has also been years since i watched it the last time, don't really have a craving for the movie in the same way that I do with other CBMs. But now that you brought it up I better go check it out, seing as it is a progressing disease these days, I might be able to find some early shows of the disease so I know when I have to go to the doctor and get a treatment.

The Director's cut is another movie in comparison. I give it a "8" just because Affleck and Gardner do NOT end up in bed

i have to admit, dexter is an intriguing option for DD.

@Multi: That or the pressure of the tight masks just so happens to activate a perticular place in the brain, which triggers these throat-cancer voices. No matter what it is Hollywood has got to find a way to get rid of the problem, after all the era of CBMs is upon us!

I preferred the director's cut of Daredevil to the first Spidey movie.
Probably because I'm a bit of a misanthropist and Matt Murdock got beaten to shit, had no one to turn to and more importantly DIDN'T get the girl.
Sure, the effects were ropey in a lot of places but I felt the character itself was realised well, particularly his self-doubt and innate Catholic guilt.
Time for some of you haters to watch this again with a bit more of an open mind, methinks.

Can't have a DD cameo in spidey. FOX owns DD and Sony owns spidey. Damn FOX and all they represent. Come on Marvel/Disney, buy back the rights to all your charactors no matter what the cost. You'll earn it back and then some with all the cameos and crossovers. Give us back are stories DAMMIT!!!!!

HOLY SHIT! What rock did Affleck crawl out from. That guy hasn't been around in a frikin while.
I liked DD. But a reboot would be a good move. I'd watch it.

not gonna knock it... I liked the movie, thought Afleck did a good job, and would have no qualms w/ a continuation of the started story line.

I too liked DD. I thought it was a very good movie except for Kingpin. It did pretty well for a January or February movie (can't remember when it came out in the theaters) Didn't it make over $100,000.00?

I sort of liked DD. I didn't think it was as bad as most say, though, then again, I haven't watched it in a while.

Personally, I'm fine with either a reboot or a continuation, just want a recast. Well, in that case, you might as well go ahead and reboot it.

I'd go with Misha Collins as DD, and Michael Fassbender as Bullseye, probably directed by someone along the lines of David Fincher. Though I'd rather see Fincher direct a Deadpool movie. Perhaps Darren Aronofsky or Alfonso Cuaron?
